Hannah Montana<\/em><\/a> star Mitchel Musso<\/strong> was noticeably absent<\/a> from the show\u2019s 20th anniversary special earlier this year \u2014 and now he\u2019s revealing why.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course they asked me [to be in it],\u201d Musso, 34, revealed on the \u201cJoe Vulpis Podcast\u201d<\/a> on Wednesday, June 24. \u201cBut, it wasn\u2019t presented correctly [to me].\u201d<\/p>\n

Musso appeared in more than 70 episodes of the classic Disney Channel comedy series, playing Miley Stewart\u2019s (Cyrus) best friend Oliver Oken alongside Emily Osment<\/strong>\u2019s Lilly Truscott.<\/p>\n

The star explained to host Joe Vulpis<\/strong> that he truly valued the opportunity to play Oliver again since he\u2019d mostly been living outside the spotlight for the past decade. Instead, Disney opted for a retrospective look back at Hannah Montana<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been waiting ten years,\u201d he stressed. \u201cThe people, they say, 20. My break\u2019s been 10. It\u2019s too long of a wait to do it in a way that isn\u2019t even close to, in my opinion, correct.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special<\/em> aired in March and featured Cyrus, 33, looking back on memorable moments from the show, alongside host Alex Cooper<\/strong> and celebrity guests such as Chappell Roan<\/strong> and Selena Gomez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In his new interview, Musso said he would relish the chance of actually getting to play Oliver again in a proper Hannah Montana<\/em> episode.<\/p>\n

\u201cI need a wig,\u201d he joked. \u201cI\u2019d want the hair, which is fine. I\u2019ve worn [wigs] plenty of times on Disney. I\u2019ve worn plenty of wigs. \u2026 I\u2019d want to feel the part again. I\u2019d want to put on that little polo again, and wear the \u2026 plaid shorts with the goofy shoes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor went on, \u201cI\u2019d want to play the character, yeah. Once I saw myself doing it, I\u2019d say, \u2018Oh, there you are!\u2019 Let\u2019s get out there and let\u2019s do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Musso was not the only major Hannah Montana<\/em> cast member missing from the anniversary special, as Osment, 34, could not appear<\/a> due to her filming obligationa on CBS sitcom Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re at Georgie & Mandy<\/em> \u2026 and that\u2019s why I was not able to be part of the 20-year reunion, because we are here shooting our show,\u201d she said in a social media video at the time. \u201cBut I wanted to say hello and thank you to everybody that has stuck by us for all these years. I\u2019m so grateful that you guys all still love the show. I\u2019m so proud to be a part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahead of the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special<\/em> airing in March, Musso paid tribute to the show with his own Instagram post.<\/p>\n
