However, members of the royal family have voluntarily paid certain taxes for decades.<\/p>\n<p>Charles began voluntarily paying income tax while he was still Prince of Wales, and Buckingham Palace says he continues to do so as king.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s part of what makes this upcoming disclosure so significant.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time, the public will learn exactly how much tax Charles paid on income from sources such as the Duchy of Lancaster, private investments, and other personal holdings.<\/p>\n<p>And why we won\u2019t get a full sense of the king\u2019s holdings, this might be our best glimpse yet into the financial lives of the royals.
