What Is the Plot of the \u2018Barney\u2019 Movie?<\/h2>\n

Kevin McKeon<\/strong>, the vice president of Mattel Films<\/a>, told The New Yorker<\/em><\/a> in July 2023 that the film will be \u201csurrealistic\u201d \u2014 and not intended for children.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re leaning into the millennial angst of the property rather than fine-tuning this for kids. It\u2019s really a play for adults,\u201d he explained. \u201cNot that it\u2019s R-rated, but it\u2019ll focus on some of the trials and tribulations of being 30-something, growing up with Barney \u2014 just the level of disenchantment within the generation.\u201d<\/p>\n

McKeon added that the movie will have \u201cA24-type\u201d vibes, referring to the independent entertainment company that\u2019s produced shows like Euphoria<\/em> <\/a>and movies including Everything Everywhere All At Once<\/em>, Midsommar<\/em> <\/a>and more.<\/p>\n
