The issue, however, seems to lie with Mollen\u2019s very public joking without backtracking or, you know, just giving the joke a break.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jenny Mollen is Trending\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Qd8GVxBBOwQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>PHOTO THREE<\/p>\n<p>Mollen suspects that her recent split from longtime husband Jason Biggs is playing a role in the backlash.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think if I made this joke a month, or two months ago, it would have played differently,\u201d she suspected.<\/p>\n<p>A few months ago, she \u201cwas publicly with a man.\u201d Not so in May when she called her son her <em>toxic boyfriend<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I think that there\u2019s something about a woman who is not attached to a man that somehow reads as a threat, dangerous,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Actually, we cannot rule out that she\u2019s right. But we <em>can <\/em>say that people who have no idea who she is, and no idea who her ex is, had similar responses to her post to those who do.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DZ5_eShlGEH\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<p>Joking that Sid is \u201ctoxic\u201d is \u201cthe joke I\u2019ve been making forever,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike, I\u2019m in this dysfunctional relationship with a guy who\u2019s like, \u2018Can you hold my head while I vomit into the toilet?\u2019 \u2018Can you give me a full body massage before bed?\u2019 \u2018Can you be a dear and put more ice in my water bottle?\u2019 Like, this is the treatment,\u201d Mollen listed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s the dictator,\u201d she joked. \u201cAnd I live in this autocratic regime where I have to like \u2026 it\u2019s like, thumbs up or thumbs down.
