I\u2019m not involved in our coverage, but I can\u2019t pretend I\u2019m not here. Since I am, I just wanted to take the opportunity to ask people \u2014 really, to beg people \u2014 to come forward.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cSomebody knows something. This is a news story today that is on your radar, because this is the life my sister lives, that I live, that my brother lives and our extended families live, that our children live every day. We are in agony. We love our mom, and we\u2019ll never stop looking for her.\u201d<\/p>\n Recent reports stated that ransom notes sent by Nancy\u2019s kidnappers claimed the 84-year-old died after her February disappearance. Air Mail<\/em> was first to share the allegations<\/a> over the weekend, stating that investigators first received a message from the kidnappers on February 2, asking for $4 million to be paid for Nancy\u2019s return. By February 6, they allegedly received a second note claiming Nancy was dead.<\/p>\n NBC News, which notably broadcasts Today<\/em>, shared a separate report<\/a> on Monday, June 22, revealing that the second letter claimed Nancy had died. Meanwhile, TMZ \u2014 which also received several ransom notes amid Nancy\u2019s disappearance \u2014 published a report of its own on Monday clarifying it was not one of the media outlets informed of Nancy\u2019s alleged death.<\/p>\n News broke on February 1 that a family member called 911 to report Nancy missing<\/a> in Arizona. The Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department referred to Nancy as a \u201cvulnerable adult\u201d who was last seen the evening of January 31. Sheriff Chris Nanos<\/strong> said in a press conference\u00a0 at the time that Nancy has \u201cno cognitive issues at all.\u201d<\/p>\n According to authorities, there were \u201cconcerning circumstances found at the home.\u201d Nanos also noted that the homicide team was involved as search efforts continued.<\/p>\n Savannah\u2019s family subsequently released a statement, which read, \u201cWe can confirm this is a missing persons case, and the family is working closely with local law enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n Nanos later confirmed to Us<\/em> that Nancy\u2019s disappearance was being investigated as a crime after she was seemingly taken while she was asleep<\/a>.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/wp-content\/themes\/us-weekly\/assets\/img\/newsletter-bg-narrow.jpg\")
