The pop star has confessed she’s had an “abnormal” life for a “really long time” since starting her career as a child actor and she’s now revealed she takes a lot of pleasure from the simple things such as taking walks and picking up shopping.<\/p>\n
She told Pitchfork magazine: “I was a child actor, and I think my life has been very abnormal for a really long time. I just get so much joy from walking to the grocery store \u2026 or, like, going and meeting my friends at the bar.<\/p>\n
“You\u2019re kind of incentivized not to do stuff like that – it\u2019s easier to stay inside, stay insular. I\u2019m trying to expand outward.”<\/p>\n
In the interview, Olivia also revealed she’s learned to embrace the “lighter” side of life as a pop star, saying: “I take my work very seriously. My art is something I take very seriously, and writing is something I take very seriously. But also nothing is really that important …<\/p>\n
\n“It\u2019s so lucky we\u2019re not brain surgeons! Nobody lives or dies if we make a mistake. I think I\u2019ve been feeling that lightness lately – we live charmed lives.”<\/p>\n
\nOlivia has previously confessed she loves spending time in London because she’s able to walk about and visit pubs without being bothered.<\/p>\n
\nShe told the BBC: “I feel so normal here, very adult. I can walk to the pub and meet friends. It’s a city where spontaneity is really encouraged. <\/p>\n
\n“People are very social here, in a way that they’re not in Southern California.” <\/p>\n
\nOlivia – who was born and raised in California – has even learned how to cope with the rain in Britain. She joked: “It wouldn’t be a proper English summer without it.” <\/p>\n
\nOlivia previously explained she feels like she’s the “best version” of herself in London even writing a huge chunk of her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, in the city.<\/p>\n
\nThe singer – who previously dated London-born actor Louis Partridge – told Dazed: “I\u2019m the best version of myself when I\u2019m there. I wrote lots of the album in London; lots [of it] was inspired by my time there. <\/p>\n
\n“Maybe it\u2019s because it rains so much that all you want to do is be inside with the guitar and write.” <\/p>\n
\nOlivia also admitted to feeling inspired by Manchester, the home of bands such as Oasis, The Smiths, Joy Division, and The Stone Roses. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: “I spent some time in Manchester a few years ago and it was so rainy I was like, \u2018No wonder so many great bands come out of Manchester!\u2019”<\/p>\n
