Clive Davis has passed away<\/p>\n
The legendary music executive – who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a non-performer, in 2000 – passed away peacefully from age-related illness at his home in Manhattan on Monday (22.06.26).<\/p>\n
Davis’ family said in a statement: “To the world, our father was the iconic music legend whose vision, instincts, and relentless pursuit of excellence shaped the soundtrack of countless lives. He discovered, mentored, and championed the greatest artists in modern music history, leaving an indelible mark on culture that will endure for generations.<\/p>\n
“To his family, Clive was Dad and Granddaddy, the steady presence at the centre of our lives, the source of wisdom, strength, encouragement, and unconditional love. No matter how extraordinary his professional accomplishments, he never lost sight of what mattered most: the people he loved.<\/p>\n
“Through every chapter of his remarkable life, family remained Clive’s greatest pride and deepest joy. Today, we celebrate not only a towering figure whose influence changed music forever, but the man who led our family with grace, generosity, and kindness. We will miss him greatly, cherish him always, and carry his love with us for the rest of our lives.”<\/p>\n
\nDavis was hospitalised in New York City in late May, before being discharged on June 4.<\/p>\n
\nThe Grammy-winning producer – who was instrumental in the careers of Whitney Houston, Barry Manilow, Billy Joel, Aerosmith, and Bruce Springsteen – was admitted to a medical facility on May 29 for undisclosed reasons, but was subsequently said to have been in “good spirits” after returning home.<\/p>\n
\nHis spokesperson confirmed to People at the time: “Clive was discharged from the hospital earlier today. He is in good spirits and happy to be recuperating at home.”<\/p>\n
\nDavis – who was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, a treatable but unexplained neurological disorder, in 2021 – enjoyed a hugely successful career in the music business.<\/p>\n
\nHowever, he admitted that he never intended his career to head in that direction, having studied a law degree at Harvard Law School.<\/p>\n
\nHe told Harvard Law Today in 2017: “I liked music but I listened in a very ordinary way, like anyone would listen to the radio.<\/p>\n
\n“I never collected records, or wanted to be a fly on the wall in a studio. I did adopt the philosophy that if you’re going to be counsel to a company, you learn everything you can about a business. But even then it never occurred to me that I would be on the music side.”<\/p>\n
