Grantchester<\/em><\/strong>, the hit PBS Masterpiece television series, is ending at the end of the 11th season.<\/p>\n

New episodes will air weekly on Sundays, with the series finale set to air this summer.<\/p>\n

The Grantchester<\/em> showrunner explained why the period piece TV show is ending<\/h3>\n

Showrunner Daisy Coulam<\/strong> was asked by TV Insider<\/a> when she knew the show would be ending.<\/p>\n

She shared, \u201cFrom the time we started planning it, we were thinking of it as the last, and that we should go out on a high. It\u2019s been a good run and we\u2019ve had such a lovely time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Was the decision to end the show a financial one? Or was it a creative decision?<\/h3>\n
\n

She responded, \u201cIt was a little bit of both, but I would say [executive producer Emma Kingsman-Lloyd] took the choice, really. She said, \u2018We want to keep making the show the best it can be. Now is the time to end it.\u2019 We could keep going and I think we\u2019d all love to keep going, but I think sometimes you just need to make the decision and then build the final [season] into the best it can be.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Could Grantchester <\/em>ever be revived one day?<\/h3>\n

When asked by Variety<\/a>, star Rishi Nair<\/strong> said, \u201cI personally think that we should do \u201cGrantchester, the Movie,\u201d and have all the characters come to the U.S. and experience the U.S.\u201d<\/p>\n

Al Weaver<\/strong> also added, \u201cI don\u2019t think anyone would be averse to doing a Christmas special, if we ever got asked. That would be lovely. That would be fun to see everyone come back.\u201d<\/p>\n
