\nThe Maggie May singer – who cancelled a number of concerts earlier this month due to health reasons – appeared unwell and was doubled over in pain while performing at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City, Utah, on Friday (19.06.26).<\/p>\n
\nVideo footage shared by TMZ showed the 81-year-old star leaning on a piano and grabbing other parts of the set for support during Young Turks before staff came out with an oxygen tank.<\/p>\n
\nRod later told the crowd he had almost fainted and made a few jokes, before finishing the show sitting in a chair.<\/p>\n
\nThe Hot Legs hitmaker previously cancelled his May 29 and 30 The Encore Shows residency gigs at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas at the last minute after a vocal rest order from doctors.<\/p>\n
\nThe It’s a Heartache performer said: “My apologies to my family of fans. I am on vocal rest as I recover from a sinus infection. I look forward to seeing you at a future show at Caesars Palace or on tour this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAnd on 12 June, he cancelled his show in California just hours before it was due to start after contracting laryngitis.<\/p>\n
\nA statement on his Instagram Story at the time read: “Rod Stewart very regretfully has had to cancel his show tonight in Chula Vista, California. <\/p>\n
\n“He travelled to the venue and made every effort to perform, but on the advice of his doctor, and following a diagnosis of an acute upper respiratory infection, that has resulted in laryngitis, he is unable to take the stage this evening.”<\/p>\n
\nIn another slide, Rod posted a shot of himself on the empty venue’s stage as he apologised to his disappointed fans for the show’s cancellation.<\/p>\n
\nHe wrote in a third story: “Following treatment, I’m feeling much better, but my voice is not. <\/p>\n
\n“I’m very disappointed and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I did everything I could to make the show happen tonight, but, unfortunately, it just wasn’t possible. <\/p>\n
\n“I will do my utmost to reschedule. Rod.” <\/p>\n
\nHowever, Rod then faced a backlash when he posted a video of himself and sons Liam, 31, and Alistair, 20, flying to Boston in a private jet to watch his beloved Scotland take on Haiti in the World Cup. <\/p>\n
\nHe said in the video: \u201cHere we are flying off to Boston to see Scotland in the World Cup.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt’s been 28 years so these kids, I’ve told them about it, but they’ve never been. I’ve been to seven World Cups.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBut in the comments section people were quick to slam Rod for making the trip despite his illness and subsequent show cancellation.<\/p>\n
\nOne wrote: \u201cThis feels rather disingenuous, especially after your cancellation last night. Too ill to perform but okay to fly across the country for soccer?\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAs another added: \u201cSo you blew off all the people in San Diego that wanted to see you in concert but able to go to the world cup I see! I’m a huge fan of yours but I don’t think that’s cool.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWhile a third commented: \u201cI understand that shows sometimes have to be canceled, and if there was a legitimate reason, most fans would have accepted it. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhat\u2019s hard to accept is seeing you apparently celebrating on a plane with friends less than 24 hours after thousands of people were sent home disappointed in San Diego.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cMany traveled long distances, paid for hotels, parking, tickets, and took time off work to be there.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThen to see you flying across the country for a soccer game the very next morning makes the situation feel even more tone deaf. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe cancellation was frustrating enough, but this comes across as incredibly dismissive of the fans who support your career. A little empathy and awareness would have gone a long way.\u201d<\/p>\n
