\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n George Lucas<\/strong><\/a> is coming out of retirement for a special voice role!<\/p>\n The legendary Star Wars<\/strong><\/a><\/em> creator will voice a character in the upcoming Minions & Monsters<\/em>, the latest entry in Illumination\u2019s mega-successful Despicable Me<\/em> franchise.<\/p>\n CEO Chris Meledandri<\/strong> told Collider<\/a> recently that he had met George<\/strong> \u201cabout two years ago\u201d and learn about his love of Illumination movies, particularly Despicable Me<\/em> and the Minions<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was such a thrill to learn that and then to share it with the team, because obviously he\u2019s among a very small group of people who the entire studio shares a level of respect for that is just off the charts,\u201d he told the outlet. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n An idea came up for George<\/strong> to play himself in the film and it ended up working out, with the role in question involving famed actor and director Orson Welles<\/strong>. <\/p>\n \u201cIt was incredible. So, we\u2019re thrilled to have him in the film. I saw him recently, and he\u2019s already talking to me about the role he wants to do next in the next Minions<\/em> movie. So, it\u2019s pretty incredible,\u201d the CEO revealed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Minions & Monsters<\/em> will arrive in theaters on July 1, 2026.
