The use of artificial intelligence in music has divided the industry, but for Randy Travis<\/strong><\/a>, it gave him a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.<\/p>\n

In 2024, the country legend turned to AI to recreate his voice for a new song, \u201cWhere That Came From,\u201d more than a decade after suffering a stroke<\/a> that left him unable to sing or speak.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they sent it to us, I remember it like you remember 9\/11,\u201d Randy\u2019s wife, Mary Travis<\/strong>, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> at CMA Fest presented by SoFi<\/a> in Nashville earlier this month while celebrating the 40th anniversary of the singer\u2019s debut album, Storms of Life<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Mary, 68, recalled that she \u201cbawled\u201d hearing her husband\u2019s voice for the first time in years \u2014 and then Randy, 67, started crying too.<\/p>\n

\u201cRandy sat there, and he\u2019s like, you know, the puzzled look, and then his head went down, then it came up, then he smiled, then he teared [up],\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCountry music legend Randy Travis could not have recovered from his stroke without the grace of God, according to his wife, Mary Travis. \u201cRandy was determined. I don\u2019t know what he was thinking in his mind because he was in a coma a lot of the time and the aphasia took place immediately after the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Warner Records Nashville chair and president Cris Lacy<\/strong> came up with the idea to use AI for Randy\u2019s first song since his 2013 stroke.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe said, \u2018We\u2019re thinking about doing this AI thing with Randy\u2019s voice,’\u201d Mary told Us<\/em> before joking, \u201cI\u2019m a country girl, and AI meant something different, and I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t think we\u2019re ready for this artificial insemination thing!’\u201d<\/p>\n
