The following morning, I admittedly paid less attention to the regatta because I was distracted by a boat nearby. Sailing in front of me were Jeremy Strong<\/a>, the only official Loro Piana ambassador\u2014though he is clearly more part of the clan than any other pay-for-play celebrity\u2014and a quasi-prince, Pierre Casiraghi, the younger son of Caroline, Princess of Hanover, and her late second husband, Stefano Casiraghi.<\/p>\n Later, over a poolside lunch, Strong waxed poetic about the feeling of wearing Loro Piana and learning about sailing from Casiraghi, a prolific sailboat racer.<\/p>\n \u201cI basically just spent the whole time grilling him about sailing and hearing some of his stories,\u201d Strong said of his day out at sea with the aristocrat, who, he tells me, won the Admiral Cup last year with his yacht club.<\/p>\n Strong then proceeded to make a compelling point about Loro Piana\u2019s commitment to excellence.<\/p>\n \u201cPierre is one of the most renowned sailors in the world, and so to be out on the water learning from him,\u201d the actor said, \u201cand then last night they sat me with a woman named Edwina Tops-Alexander who is an Olympic horse jumper; I always enjoy getting to meet these people who are leaders in their fields.\u201d It\u2019s why he loves having a relationship with the brand. \u201cWhat they do is a cut above the rest,\u201d Strong said, recalling the way his friend and former Loro Piana CEO Damien Bertrand would \u201ccarry around little pieces of cashmere in his phone case\u201d to show the level of quality. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing like it, I appreciate it.\u201d<\/p>\n Strong also did some of my reporting for me. \u201cI asked Pier Luigi, \u2018where did the name of your boat [My Song] come from?\u2019 and he said it was from a Keith Jarrett song, so I woke up this morning and I put on the song \u2018My Song,\u2019 he said, and it\u2019s amazing.\u201d (I listened to it too as I packed the following morning, and I would name my would-be yacht after it too.)<\/p>\n I did my best to get Strong, who is now two-for-two at playing complicated billionaires, to comment on his next role as Mark Zuckerberg in Aaron Sorkin\u2019s The Social Reckoning<\/em><\/a>. \u201cWhat can I say? I guess I can\u2019t really say much,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was a great challenge for me, and the third movie I\u2019ve done with Aaron,\u201d he offered. \u201cI think it\u2019s a movie that is going to touch the third rail of a lot of things, and I\u2019m excited for you to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
