Brooke Shields<\/strong><\/a> is setting the stage for the You\u2019re Killing Me<\/em><\/a> season finale by hinting that an even \u201cbigger mystery\u201d will begin to unfold as the episode comes to a close.<\/p>\n

Warning: Spoilers below from season 1, episode 5, of You\u2019re Killing Me.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s always a plan to have the big twist at the end,\u201d Shields, 61, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> ahead of the season 1 finale, airing on Acorn TV Monday, June 22.<\/p>\n

Shields \u2014 who plays author-turned-amateur sleuth<\/a> Allison \u201cAllie\u201d Chandler \u2014 explained that once the creative team knew they had \u201ccharacters we could rely on,\u201d the show could take a few risks with the story.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re our go-tos, whether it\u2019s Andi (Amalia Williamson<\/strong><\/a>) and Allie, whether it\u2019s Jack (Tom Cavanagh<\/strong>) and Allie, or Jack and Andi, or the kind of cast of characters that are kind of wonderful, eccentric people that surround them that are unbelievably fun to watch,\u201d the actress mused<\/a>. \u201cOnce we knew we had all that, then we knew that what we could do was we could really be smart about how we crafted the bigger mystery, the bigger disappearance of a person, the continual threat that was out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

That \u201cbigger mystery\u201d will come to the surface during next week\u2019s finale, as Allie and Andi Walker, her Gen Z writing partner, dive deeper into the disappearance of Andi\u2019s mother \u2014 and where she could be now.<\/p>\n

Earlier in season 1, Detective Jack Kerrigan (who has the hots for Allie) discovered that Andi\u2019s mother is alive after leaving without explanation when her daughter was a child. Where she is and why she left, however, remains unknown.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy the end of the season, you really can\u2019t believe that you don\u2019t know what just happened<\/a> and what is going to happen,\u201d Shields teased. \u201cYou think there\u2019s going to be resolve, and then all of a sudden you\u2019re like, \u2018What?\u2019 It\u2019s just really good writing, and that holds people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cavanagh, 62, exclusively told Us<\/em> that You\u2019re Killing Me<\/em> is \u201cnot really a paint by numbers thing,\u201d noting the show will continue to keep fans on their toes going into season 2. (The mystery series was renewed for a second season<\/a> in May.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m reading the script and I should know [what\u2019s coming], and I didn\u2019t have it [figured out],\u201d he revealed. \u201cI think that\u2019s about as large a compliment as I can pay to somebody in and to say you should watch it, because it might not be what you expect, and why you expect, and who you expect<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the Monday, June 15, episode titled \u201cThe Perfect Alibi,\u201d Allie slept with Andi\u2019s father, Kevin (Jefferson Brown<\/strong>), during his brief visit to Founder\u2019s Cove.<\/p>\n

After solving their latest murder case \u2014 of who killed a local school teacher married to a town podcaster \u2014 Allie admitted that her feelings for Jack were partially to blame for her out-of-character behavior. (She had sex with Kevin while Andi was also living under her roof.)<\/p>\n

Andi, meanwhile, told her father that she is still looking for her missing mother. Her dad, however, dropped a bombshell on Andi before he left, claiming her mom had an affair with her boss shortly before she disappeared.<\/p>\n

According to Cavanagh, the season finale will bring to light more than one mystery \u2014 and leave fans with maybe more questions than answers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a very high stakes scene,\u201d the actor told Us<\/em> of a finale moment between Jack, Andi and Allie as they try to hunt down Andi\u2019s mom while facing an unforeseen danger. \u201cThis finale is cracker jack, like, this is great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amalia Williamson, who is currently starring alongside Brooke Shields on Acorn TV\u2019s You\u2019re Killing Me, spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about her future on Sullivan\u2019s Crossing, saying, \u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d Williamson, 26, noted that she has to work around her [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Williamson, meanwhile, exclusively told Us<\/em> that despite Andi and Allie\u2019s opposite approaches to writing and solving crimes, they \u201cneed each other to get the things done.\u201d<\/p>\n
