Rowland, 28, will have a \u201crecurring role\u201d on NBC\u2019s The Rockford Files<\/em>, Deadline<\/em><\/a> reported on Thursday, June 11.<\/p>\n

While Rowland\u2019s character on the reboot has not been shared, the show was picked up to series<\/a> by NBC last month.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSweet Magnolias is gearing up for its big season 5 return \u2014 but Serenity, South Carolina, will be missing one familiar face. Showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson exclusively confirmed to Us Weekly ahead of the show\u2019s Thursday, June 11, premiere that Carson Rowland, who portrays Tyler \u201cTy\u201d Townsend, made the \u201cdecision\u201d to sit out on the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the new iteration, David Boreanaz<\/strong><\/a> will portray the lead. Felix Solis<\/strong> and Jacki Weaver<\/strong> have also been announced as part of the cast, playing Jim\u2019s best friend, Nitty, and trailer park neighbor Karma, respectively.<\/p>\n

According to the logline, the new series follows Jim Rockford after he\u2019s been \u201cnewly paroled for a crime he didn\u2019t commit, who returns to work as a private investigator in Los Angeles but finds himself targeted by both police and organized crime.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Rowland hasn\u2019t publicly confirmed his part on The Rockford Files<\/em>, he\u2019s hinted that he\u2019s back to work via social media in recent weeks.<\/p>\n
