Harry Styles reveals struggles with ‘perfect’ image<\/p>\n
The 32-year-old star \u2013 who is currently performing on his Together, Together tour \u2013 revealed he struggled to cope after finishing up his series of live shows for Love On Tour.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the Q With Tom Power podcast, Harry said: \u201cI was supposed to spend New Year\u2019s with friends and I landed in Italy and felt really unwell, so I just went home.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I woke up and I had this kind of beautiful New Year\u2019s by myself. I was feeling the most alone I\u2019d felt in a really long time, but in the most beautiful way. I didn\u2019t feel lonely at all. <\/p>\n
\u201cI was just feeling myself kind of shut out from a lot of the world.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think I got used to saying no to invites from friends and maybe a weekend trip or a birthday party or something.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI just got used to, you know, if I have a week at home, I don\u2019t want to go somewhere else for three days. I just want to stay home.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd when I got to Italy and was in this quiet place, I felt like, \u2018OK, if I\u2019m going to spend all this time out here and I\u2019m going to keep saying no to everything, I\u2019m just going to shut myself off from the world\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHarry \u2013 who released his latest album, Kiss All The Time. Disco Occasionally, in March \u2013 also admitted he has struggled to live up to his fans\u2019 adoring perception of him in the past:<\/p>\n
\nHe explained: \u201cI had this relationship with my own image where people had this projected version of me that was perfect.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd when the standard you hold yourself to is this perfect person, it\u2019s impossible not to feel like you\u2019re falling short.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIf you don\u2019t feel great about yourself and someone says you\u2019re terrible, it\u2019s like the claw is in and it\u2019s ripping you.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut if you have a more solid sense of yourself, you can hear those things and it doesn\u2019t destroy you in the same way.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cYou can sit at home and think it\u2019s hard for me to do these things \u2014 people are looking at me, taking pictures. But when you shut out those things that might be negative, you also shut out a ton of \u00acpositive things.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIf you think it\u2019s hard to go to a bar and hang out with friends because people might act a certain way, there are also incredible people you could meet in that bar that you\u2019re shutting out.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAnd, Harry \u2013 who is reportedly engaged to actress Zoe Kravitz – believes time out of the spotlight has been good for him.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cHaving time to sit at home and be bored and really look at the emotions I was feeling allowed me to lean into them instead of being afraid of them.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd it means I\u2019m now in a much healthier place than I was last time I was putting music out.\u201d<\/p>\n
