\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Justin Baldoni<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s lawyer is speaking out following the latest development in the It Ends With Us<\/strong><\/a><\/em> Legal battle.<\/p>\n On Friday (June 12), a federal judge ruled that Blake Lively<\/strong><\/a> was entitled to attorneys\u2019 fees and litigation costs<\/a> in her battle against the 41-year-old actor\/director.<\/p>\n The ruling comes after Justin<\/strong> and Blake<\/strong>, 38, reached a settlement<\/a> in May, two weeks before they were set to go to trial. Blake<\/strong> first sued Justin<\/strong> for sexual harassment followed by a retaliatory public smear campaign in December 2024. Justin<\/strong> has denied the claims and filed a $400 million countersuit, which was later dismissed<\/a>.<\/p>\n Following the settlement, a dispute still remained between the two over whether Blake<\/strong> had the right to pursue attorneys\u2019 fees and damages related to Justin<\/strong>\u2018s counterclaim under a California anti-retaliation law.<\/p>\n U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman<\/strong> partially granted Blake<\/strong>\u2018s request, finding that she is entitled to attorneys\u2019 fees and litigation cost<\/a>s, but he denied her bid for treble damages and punitive damages.<\/p>\n In a statement to People<\/a><\/em> after the ruling, Justin<\/strong>\u2018s attorney Bryan Freedman<\/strong> said that Blake<\/strong> \u201cwas only awarded limited attorney fees for a single claim as part of a case that lasted only a matter of months, nothing more.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe fought and won against a coordinated effort built on allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation, and a smear campaign that never happened,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cMs. Lively demanded over 300 million in fees and damages, had 10 of her 13 claims dismissed<\/a>, she then chose to settle and received nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n Freedman<\/strong> went on to say that the judge\u2019s decision to not award Blake<\/strong> damages was a failure for her team.<\/p>\n \u201cNot withstanding that all of her sexual harassment and defamation claims were thrown out by the court, Ms. Lively then pivoted to exploit a California law that was established to protect real victims in what proved to be a fruitless mission to obtain damages.\u00a0\u00a0Once again, she failed,\u201d Freedman <\/strong>said.<\/p>\n In response, Blake<\/strong>\u2018s legal team said in a statement that \u201cBryan Freedman and his clients resorted to a DARVO [Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender] statement that is a pack of lies.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cJust a few weeks ago, they said Blake Lively\u2019s claims \u2018deserved to be heard,’\u201d the statement continued. \u201cNow it seems Justin Baldoni thinks women who bring claims of sexual harassment and retaliation in good faith, without malice, should be sued into oblivion.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThankfully, there\u2019s a law against that, and the Court applied it today.
