Emily Blunt<\/strong> <\/a>is getting candid about her Devil Wears Prada<\/em> character, Emily Charlton, becoming a \u201clesbian icon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Appearing on the Thursday, June 11, episode<\/a> of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen<\/em>, Blunt, 43, was asked to weigh in on her popular character\u2019s sexuality.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmily Charlton has become a lesbian icon and fans have long shipped her with Andy Sachs [played by Anne Hathaway<\/strong>].\u201d host Cohen<\/strong>, 58, said as he read out a fan\u2019s question to Blunt. \u201cWould you like to see her openly portrayed as a lesbian in a future sequel?\u201d<\/p>\n

In response, the Oppenheimer<\/em> star admitted she was all for the idea.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnne Hathaway and Emily Blunt\u2019s The Devil Wears Prada characters didn\u2019t get off to a good start in the 2006 film, but off camera their connection was undeniable. \u201cDid we meet before the table read?\u201d Blunt, who portrayed lead assistant Emily in the fashion-themed movie, asked Hathaway, 41, during their reunion for the Wednesday, December [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019d love to get it on with Annie Hathaway,\u201d Blunt joked. She added, \u201cC\u2019mon! There\u2019s a love story there.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the enduring popularity of the original Devil Wears Prada<\/em> movie, released in 2006, Blunt reprised her role<\/a> alongside Hathaway and Meryl Streep<\/strong> in the sequel<\/a> which dropped earlier this year.<\/p>\n

As well as sharing her thoughts on her character\u2019s potential love life during her WWHL<\/em> appearance, Blunt explained how she felt about Charlton being seen by some fans as the villain in the two films.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, when I played her in the first movie, I never saw her as a bitch, I saw her as just desperate and that person who kind of defines her entire self on their job and their success and she\u2019s clearly someone who is delusional and a lunatic but I feel for her,\u201d Blunt said. \u201cI don\u2019t know, I love her. I think she\u2019s a complete loon and I still think, I get it, I get the intention.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cohen added that he believed that because Blunt portrayed Charlton \u201cwith vulnerability,\u201d the character didn\u2019t come across as nasty as she potentially could have.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s tragic though. Think of how empty that life is,\u201d Blunt replied.<\/p>\n

The Edge of Tomorrow<\/em> actress previously addressed her desire to become a \u201cgay icon\u201d in past interviews.<\/p>\n
