They\u2019re parents of three. They\u2019re next in line for the throne.<\/p>\n<p>But you never forget an ex.<\/p>\n<p>At a recent royal event, Kate came face-to-face with the man she dated just before William. No, Gloucestershire is <em>not <\/em>the steak sauce.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the guests at the nuptials were Rupert Finch and his wife, Lady Natasha.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, it is significant \u2014 especially with William and Kate in attendance.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"William and Catherine Attend Wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nMZXyT7rFS0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>During her time at the University of St. Andrews, Kate was a freshman while Rupert was what we\u2019d call a senior.<\/p>\n<p>(The British don\u2019t do freshman-sophomore-junior-senior but have various \u201cforms\u201d and at this point we\u2019re too afraid to ask what that means.)<\/p>\n<p>At that time, Kate and Rupert dated \u2014 however briefly.<\/p>\n<p>It mattered enough that the sixth and final season of <em>The Crown<\/em> (years after it stopped being good) portrayed the relationship on screen.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, they ended up breaking up. Was it?<\/h2>\n<p>Despite what one might imagine, there is no real reason to believe that this reunion of the exes was awkward.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t just because it\u2019s been a couple of decades since they dated. Though that is, of course, a factor.<\/p>\n<p>Even 15 years ago, when Kate and William married, things were cool.<\/p>\n<p>Rupert was a guest at their royal wedding.
