\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n The honorees of the 2026 Governors Awards<\/strong><\/a><\/em> have been announced!<\/p>\n The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present Honorary Oscars to veteran actress Glenn Close<\/strong><\/a>, legendary director Ridley Scott<\/strong><\/a>, and Disney\u2019s first Black animator Floyd Norman<\/strong> at the 2026 Governors Awards<\/em>, set to take place later this year.<\/p>\n The recognition is long over-due for both Glenn<\/strong> and Ridley<\/strong>, who have been nominated for numerous Oscars over the years without any wins. Glenn<\/strong> has received eight nods while Ridley<\/strong> has three directing nominations and a producing nod for Best Picture.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Academy\u2019s Board of Governors is thrilled to present this year\u2019s Governors Awards<\/em> to five remarkable individuals whose groundbreaking work has forever shaped the art of filmmaking,\u201d Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor <\/strong>shared in a statement, via Variety<\/a><\/em>. \u201cThroughout her extraordinary body of work, Glenn Close<\/strong>\u2019s unparalleled emotional range has brought to life some of the most complex characters in cinema. Floyd Norman<\/strong> is the legendary animator who has broken barriers and inspired generations of artists over his remarkable career. Sir Ridley Scott<\/strong> is a true visionary whose decades-long legacy has left an immeasurable impact on global cinema and culture.\u201d<\/p>\n Also during the 2026 Governors Awards<\/em>, Christine Vachon<\/strong> and Pamela Koffler<\/strong>, producers and longtime champions of independent films, will be honored the Irving G.
