Brad Pitt<\/strong><\/a> and Angelina Jolie<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt<\/strong><\/a> has filed a petition to drop her dad\u2019s last name from her own.<\/p>\n

Legal documents filed by Zahara, 21, with the Superior Court of California in April were processed on Friday, June 5. The filing, obtained by Us Weekly<\/em>, shows that Zahara proposes to change her name to Zahara Jolie, and a legal hearing to discuss the matter will commence in Los Angeles on Monday, September 28.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> has reached out to Jolie and Pitt for comment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate when a parent deliberately alienates their children from the other,\u201d a source exclusively tells Us<\/em> regarding the filing.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAngelina Jolie and Brad Pitt\u2019s daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt seemingly dropped her father\u2019s last name months before her younger sister Shiloh Jolie-Pitt filed paperwork to legally change her name. While celebrating her status as a new member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority in November 2023, Zahara, 19, appeared to leave out her dad\u2019s last name [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Angelina, 51, filed for divorce<\/a> from Pitt, 62, on September 20, 2016, citing \u201cirreconcilable differences\u201d as the reason for her filing. Their eight-year divorce and custody battle over the pair\u2019s six children \u2014 Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, Shiloh, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17 \u2014 was finalized on December 30, 2024, as confirmed by Us<\/em> at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe children are now adults and make their own decisions,\u201d a second insider says of the petition. \u201cIt\u2019s really horrible that he [Pitt] has tried to paint himself as a victim. When will people start asking real questions about what happened to the kids?\u201d<\/p>\n

Under the former couple\u2019s custody agreement, Pitt holds visitation rights with Vivienne and Knox, who are still minors, as opposed to legally independent adults.<\/p>\n

At the time of the pair\u2019s divorce settlement, Angelina\u2019s lawyer James Simon<\/strong> told Us<\/em> in a statement, \u201cMore than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.\u201d<\/p>\n

In May, Zahara publicly dropped<\/a> Pitt\u2019s last name from her own during her college graduation. Social media footage captured at the Spelman College graduation ceremony showed Zahara announced as \u201cZahara Marley Jolie\u201d as she walked across a stage to receive her diploma.<\/p>\n

Three years prior, social media footage also showed Zahara introducing herself without her father\u2019s last name when she joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. \u201cMy name is Zahara Marley Jolie,\u201d she said in a 2023 clip. \u201cComing all the way from the Golden State in the city that is full of angels, Los Angeles, California \u2026 I am this line\u2019s number seven.\u201d<\/p>\n
