Pittsburgh mayor Corey O\u2019Connor<\/strong> has claimed that Morgan Wallen<\/strong><\/a> had \u201cno contact\u201d with the city prior to canceling his show due to alleged weather concerns.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no contact to Public Safety or my administration, so however the artist and his team picked to not have the show, that was on them,\u201d O\u2019Connor, 41, said on KDKA Radio, according to Audacy<\/em><\/a>. \u201cIf you\u2019re going to say that you consulted \u2026 that\u2019s one story. We, again, had no record of that, from public safety director all the way down.\u201d<\/p>\n

O\u2019Connor also claimed that he heard the concert venue, Acrisure Stadium, was not notified of the last-minute cancellation in advance. (Us Weekly<\/em> reached out to the venue for comment.)<\/p>\n

Wallen, 33, announced in the afternoon on Saturday, June 6, that his Still The Problem<\/em> Tour concert that evening would be canceled<\/a>, citing forecasted scattered thunderstorms in the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter talking with local officials and my team, there is no choice but to cancel tonight\u2019s show due to severe adverse weather conditions expected throughout the rest of the day and night,\u201d the country singer wrote in a statement. \u201cSafety for my fans and crew is the highest priority. In a follow-up video later that evening, Wallen doubled down on his claim that his team consulted local officials before deciding to cancel the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018Why?\u2019 They said that there was going to be strong winds in the area, and I said, \u2018OK.\u2019 So, that\u2019s what I did, and that was the information that I had in the moment,\u201d he said. \u201cI trusted my team, and I understand that the wind and whatever else happened hasn\u2019t gotten to Pittsburgh yet. I know it has touched some of Pennsylvania, so my heart goes out to all those affected by it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wallen continued, \u201cThe truth of the matter is I have a large stage, that in those conditions, could become fatal to a lot of folks around it. I did the best I could with the information that I had in that moment. I\u2019ve been seeing a lot of nonsense about me that is simply not true, and I just wanted to clear the air.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wallen added that his \u201ctrue fans\u201d know safety comes first.<\/p>\n
