Platonic<\/em> stars two of the biggest names<\/a> in Hollywood \u2014 Rose Byrne<\/strong><\/a> and Seth Rogen<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 but Tre Hale<\/strong> says his colleagues were as down-to-earth as they could possibly be.<\/p>\n \u201cI asked [Seth] and Rose so many questions on set,\u201d Hale exclusively tells Us Weekly<\/em> of Rogen, 41, and Byrne, 43. \u201cAnd credit to them, they were so awesome \u2014 both of them \u2014 in really making a newcomer like me feel comfortable and feel open and feel confident in a lot of the choices that I made.\u201d<\/p>\n Hale stars alongside the duo in the new Apple TV+ series<\/a>, which debuted in May. Byrne and Rogen play Sylvia and Will, respectively, two childhood best friends who reconnect as adults, while Hale appears as Will\u2019s friend and business partner, Andy.<\/p>\n Platonic<\/em> isn\u2019t Hale\u2019s first TV role, but he still looked to his costars for tips. \u201cI had asked Seth some good acting advice, just a basic general question,\u201d Hale recalled. \u201cAnd I remember, he said, \u2018Do nothing,\u2019 and at the time, I didn\u2019t quite understand what that meant. Like, do nothing? You\u2019ve got to do something in a scene.\u201d<\/p>\n Rogen, however, explained that he meant newer actors sometimes \u201cover-perform\u201d in order to \u201ccapture attention\u201d while they\u2019re trying to make a name for themselves.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was something very small, and some actors might hear that and think another way,\u201d Hale explained. \u201cIt gave me so much perspective and helped me so much. He gave me that on, like, episode 2 I think. He gave me that little gem. So, I was able to take that with me for the rest of the season. I was very lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n As for Byrne, Hale said that she was a \u201cleader\u201d during production, setting the standard for everyone else on set with her kindness.<\/p>\n \u201c[She is] somebody who is genuinely nice to everybody and she conducts herself with just so much class,\u201d Hale told Us<\/em>. \u201cShe was so cool and so sweet to people, and it\u2019s like, she can do so many things when it comes to comedy and horror and drama. The things she does as an actor? She\u2019s truly one of the greatest actors ever in my opinion, and being able to see someone like that is so cool \u2014 [she was] so down to talk and improv and riff with a young guy like me.\u201d<\/p>\n Before landing his part on Platonic<\/em>, Hale had abided by the rule \u201cnever meet your heroes,\u201d but Byrne and Rogen proved that old adage wrong. \u201cI was like, \u2018Aw, man, I\u2019m booking a role with people I absolutely admire<\/a> and idolize, and I really hope you\u2019re not the worst,’\u201d he recalled. \u201cAnd how opposite of that they were. They are truly friends of mine.
