Don’t let Central Florida’s steamy weather stop you from visiting Walt Disney World in the summer. There is no denying it can get hot, humid and steamy in the summer months, but that’s what hotel pools and water parks are for.<\/p>\n

Temperatures aside, summer is one of the best times to visit Disney World thanks to new attractions, special discounts and exclusive experiences. Here are our top tips for planning the perfect summer visit to Disney World.<\/p>\n

Lower crowds and cheaper tickets<\/h2>\n

While early summer \u2014 beginning with Memorial Day weekend and running through early August \u2014 can be busy at Walt Disney World, late summer is one of the cheapest and least crowded times to visit the parks.<\/p>\n

You can find one-day tickets for as low as $119 for several dates in August and September (in 2026 and 2027). If you hop back one month to July or ahead to October 2026, ticket prices jump to $164 and up.<\/p>\n

By mid-August, most kids are back in school, and there is a short window before Disney begins to celebrate Halloween (yes, Halloween starts in August in Central Florida) and the costumed crowds descend. In general, you’ll see the lowest crowds on weekdays. Time your visit accordingly if your schedule allows.<\/p>\n

Limited-time discounts<\/h2>\n

In addition to cheaper base prices, Disney is currently offering a limited-time discount on a four-day ticket<\/a><\/span> that includes one day of admission to each theme park and a special afternoon ticket<\/a><\/span> that includes two or three days of admission to one park per day after 2 p.m., starting at $117 per day.<\/p>\n

If you already know you’ll be visiting all four parks, the 4-Day, 4-Park Magic ticket is a great option. And, if your idea of vacation doesn’t involve waking up at 6 a.m. to be at the parks for rope drop, the “After 2 PM” ticket can help you sleep in and save a bit of cash.<\/p>\n

The summertime savings go beyond theme park entry. You can save up to 30% on your Disney World hotel stay, and kids ages 3 to 9 can get a free dining plan on eligible vacation packages. You can view all current offers<\/a><\/span> on the Walt Disney World website.<\/p>\n

Other ways to save<\/h2>\n

The no-annual-fee Disney\u00ae Visa\u00ae Card<\/a><\/span> (see rates and fees<\/a><\/span>) comes with all kinds of perks, including 10% off at select restaurants and gift shops, and 15% off select guided tours. That’s in addition to the new cardholder bonus and the simple 1% cash back you’ll earn on all purchases in the form of Disney Reward Dollars you can use to offset the cost of your next vacation. Disney Visa cardholders often receive additional exclusive discounts, such as free dining plans and more.<\/p>\n

New attractions and experiences<\/h2>\n

If it’s been a few years since your last visit to Disney World, a lot<\/em> has changed (and, if you’ve never been, you are in for an even bigger treat). Major construction projects<\/a><\/span> are underway at three of Disney’s four parks, but you won’t have to wait for the bulldozers to retreat to enjoy new rides and entertainment at Disney World.<\/p>\n

Magic Kingdom<\/h3>\n

Two popular Magic Kingdom attractions recently received updates that bring guests even deeper into Disney’s expert storytelling. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland reopened in April with new ride vehicles outfitted with handheld blasters and video monitors, along with interactive targets and haptic feedback for more accurate alien-blasting.<\/p>\n

Over in Frontierland, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad opened after being closed for more than a year. In addition to mechanical upgrades like new tracks and ride vehicles, Disney added a colorful Rainbow Caverns show scene.<\/p>\n

Disney’s Hollywood Studios<\/h3>\n

Arguably, the biggest opening this summer is Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. As Disney World’s only inverted coaster, it’s a must-do for thrill seekers. The ride used to feature music by Aerosmith, but it got Muppet-fied just in time for summer with new music, characters and lots of memorabilia from the Muppets history (including the recently closed Muppet*Vision 3D).<\/p>\n

In Galaxy’s Edge, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run got a major upgrade. Now, instead of just one mission, there are several mission locations to choose from. And they all feature appearances by Grogu and the Mandalorian. He is almost too cute to look away from and focus on not crashing the ship.<\/p>\n

Epcot<\/h3>\n

There have been a few iterations of Soarin’ over the years, and to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, Disney introduced a patriotic version of Soarin’ Across America. The motion simulator flyover film highlights 13 iconic US locales and landmarks, culminating in a fireworks finale over Spaceship Earth.<\/p>\n

Extra fun for families<\/h2>\n

After introducing the monthslong event last year, Disney brought back Cool Kids Summer<\/a><\/span> for the 2026 season. The event runs from May 26 through Sept. 8, 2026, and includes fun for families with young kids across all four parks and select Disney resort hotels.<\/p>\n
