About half was sold with no issue. Ownership switched hands and the new owners are refusing both to pay out the consignment OR return what is left of the collection.<\/p>\n<p>Why don&#8217;t the rightful owners sue? The cost of suing would take approx the amount of the entire rest of the collection (approx $100k USD) if not more.<\/p>\n<p>A youtuber named Reckless Ben has been on a multi video, multi stunt trip to help them get it back.<\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li>Reckless Ben introduces the audience to Bryan Mansell, whose father Ed owned the Star Wars lego collection<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Ben goes to the specific Bricks &amp; Minifigs (BAM) store and tries to get them to give him the collection. They tell him to go to corporate<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Corporate has already told Ben to go to the individual BAM store.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The manager tells him to talk to the owner. Tracking down the owner is really hard.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>However Ben recruits one of the BAM store employees and flips her by pretending she won a lego prize, taking her to the forest where a bunch of guys proclaim her queen and they chant &#8220;Brick by brick&#8221;. She then tells them some of the lego collection is still in the store and gives them the number of Josh the new franchise owner<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Josh tells Ben that Bryan should sue him.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Ben tries to get Josh to sue him (a countersuit might be cheaper IDK) but it doesn&#8217;t work.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>He then tries to get the police to investigate by having Bryan donate one of the lego sets as the winning prize in a real lottery which the BAM store refuses to honour<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The police still won&#8217;t investigate.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Josh finally calls Ben and says if Bryan apologizes he will return the items. Bryan refuses so Ben does a deepfake. At Josh&#8217;s request he also returns to the store and apologizes to the store manager who calls the cops on him.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Josh swears to God he will return the items. After a month of dragging his feet he basically tells Ben to fuck off again.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Ben decides to sue in small claims court. He and ten of his friends buy $10k each of Bryan&#8217;s collection and then sue in small claims court<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The Bricks &amp; Minifigs does not take them seriously and think their serving papers are frauds. The guys win default judgements<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>When Ben goes to collect the store has been closed<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Ben puts a sign over the store saying he sued and the store closed to avoid paying him. Josh is apparently a high ranking Mormon and thus the cops will likely protect him.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Ben and team are later followed by the cops, pulled over for ignoring a stop sign that the cops on own body cams show they fully stopped for. They are also later pulled over and accused of having heroin which leads to a 2 hour search from where they are eventually let go (no heroin is found)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>At this point, after proving that they will not mediate with him, Ben goes to serve the papers to Josh. Josh will no longer answer the door so he gets a process server.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>While waiting for Josh to come out of his house he is approached 4 times by the cops. The first two times he explains everything and they go away. The third time the cop offers to serve Josh. He returns with the papers and says Josh didn&#8217;t want them (OP note: lol lawyer&#8217;s hate this one trick!) The fourth time they arrest Ben even after verifying his lawsuit is real and he is doing what he says he is doing<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Ben later finds out that Josh had called into the police threatening to shoot and kill Ben for stalking which is what led to BEN&#8217;s arrest.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Feeling demoralized Ben and co decide to start a gofundme to attempt to make Bryan whole (gofundme is currently over 400k)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>While planning next steps Ben and his crew are raided at the airbnb where they are staying and arrested.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The warrent says that they are looking for stolen legos (???)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Ben and crew talk to the police and tell them everything because they are innocent (OP note: NEVER DO THIS. ALWAYS ASK FOR A LAWYER AND SAY NOTHING ELSE).<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Ben is arrested again, not for the legos but for starting the gofund me (???)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>He is supposed to be held in jail with no bail<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The judge thinks the whole thing is dumb and allows Ben to be bailed (for 2.5 k)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>A second warrent is put out with no bail<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Ben flees to Mexico (OP note: I think this part is a prank)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Says he will be back for part 3 (which hasn&#8217;t been released publicly yet and I&#8217;m not paying for patreon)<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p><a name=\"cutid2-end\"\/><\/p>\n<p>You thought this was OVER??? hahaha there&#8217;s MOAR<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime:<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"cutid3-end\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Why has this blown up? Despite all the twists, turns, police corruption, bullying and pranks this is a very simple David v. Goliath case. A store has a man&#8217;s property in their posession and he has asked to be made whole by either having his property returned to him or being paid out the value of his goods. The store refuses. <\/p>\n<p>This case has a lot of crossover appeal: lego enthusiasts, ex-Mormons, legal community.<\/p>\n<p>Reckless Ben&#8217;s OG video now has (of this writing) 5 million views.
