Will Friedle<\/strong><\/a> had no intention of saying \u201cyes\u201d to joining the Boy Meets World<\/em> <\/a>spinoff, Girl Meets World<\/em> \u2014 especially after producer Michael Jacobs<\/strong> told him he couldn\u2019t write for the show. Thankfully, something changed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe made a deal,\u201d Friedle, 49, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> at the Doc Meets World<\/em> premiere red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday, June 6. \u201cIf I came back on camera and did three episodes, then I could write it. So, we did a little, a little trading.\u201d<\/p>\n

Friedle, who did end up writing a couple episodes of the show, recalled the moment he learned of the Boy Meets World<\/em> spinoff.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t going to do it, and not only because of the acting [and my anxiety] but I found out about GMW<\/em> when, like, CNN called and asked for a comment,\u201d he explained in Doc\u00a0Meets World<\/em>. \u201cAnd [Jacobs] said you can do whatever on the show, and I said, \u2018I want to be a writer,\u2019 and he was like, \u2018You can\u2019t do that.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

After portraying the role of Topanga for seven seasons on the ABC \u201890s hit, Fishel, 43, returned for the Disney [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

More than a decade after Boy Meets World<\/em> came to an end in 2000, the spinoff premiered on Disney Channel and followed Cory (Ben Savage<\/strong>) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel<\/strong>)\u2019s daughter, Riley Matthews. Girl Meets World<\/em> ultimately aired from 2014 to 2017.<\/p>\n

Five years later, Friedle teamed up with Fishel and Boy Meets World<\/em> costar Rider Strong<\/strong> for a podcast titled \u201cPod Meets World.\u201d The group rewatches episodes of Boy Meets World<\/em>, providing commentary alongside various guests \u2014 including their former costars.<\/p>\n

Days before the Tribeca Film Festival, Friedle got candid about having a \u201ccrush\u201d on Fishel.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI told you, years later, I had a crush on you, Danielle,\u201d Friedle said during the Thursday, June 4, episode of their \u201cPod Meets World\u201d podcast. \u201cYears later, I almost asked you out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBoy Meets World became a family sitcom phenomenon during its seven-season run on ABC from 1993 to 2000. Created by Michael Jacobs, the show followed the life and life lessons of Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) from home with parents Alan (William Russ) and mother Amy (Betsy Randle) to school with neighbor and forever-teacher George Feeny [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fishel, however, shared that she \u201cnever knew\u201d about Friedle\u2019s crush before he admitted his feelings to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was like \u2026 2005, [2006], something like that. It wasn\u2019t long after Boy, and we were all hanging out again a little bit,\u201d Friedle clarified of what he felt with Fishel.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember there was one time where we were hanging out, and \u2026 I was single and Danielle was single. I was like, \u2018Oh, that might be interesting to entertain,\u2019\u201d he continued, sharing that he never pursued a relationship with Fishel. \u201cThere would have been a weirdness to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
