\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Grace Gummer<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about her latest TV role. <\/p>\n The 40-year-old actress recently portrayed Caroline Kennedy<\/strong> in the FX series Love Story: John F Kennedy Jr & Carolyn Bessette<\/em>, but she almost wasn\u2019t in it. <\/p>\n During an interview with THR<\/a><\/em>, Grace<\/strong> revealed that she had a competing offer another show, but Love Story<\/em> executive producer Ryan Murphy<\/strong><\/a> called her and convinced her to join his show. <\/p>\n \u201cHe called me and was like, \u2018What is this other show you\u2019re doing? Why don\u2019t you do our show? I promise, it\u2019s going to be amazing,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019s very, very direct; he knows what he wants, and he\u2019s decisive and smart as hell. So I trust him.\u201d<\/p>\n Grace<\/strong> is, of course, no stranger to working with Ryan<\/strong>, as she previously appeared in three seasons of American Horror Story<\/em> and most recently, and episode of All\u2019s Fair<\/em>.<\/p>\n The actress, whose famous parents are Don Gummer<\/strong> and Meryl Streep<\/strong>, also opened up about that emotional scene in the Love Story<\/em> season finale, where Caroline learns of JFK Jr, Carolyn and sister Lauren Bessette\u2019s death in a plane crash.<\/p>\n \u201d You have to sort of search within yourself in a very deep way, emotionally,\u201d Grace<\/strong> shared about preparing for the scene. \u201cTechnicality is really important to me as an actor. Knowing the lines was, first and foremost, my center and my mark within the scene. I made sure that I knew all the beats because a lot of the words were repeated, but they were all said in different ways. So I really tried to make sure that I knew what I was saying when I was saying it so that I wouldn\u2019t have to think of any of that.<\/p>\n \u201cSecondly, I really let myself go,\u201d she added. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing I left behind, physically or emotionally. I let myself be completely open and vulnerable. And, to be honest, I try to imagine what it\u2019s like to lose someone you love, and it\u2019s unimaginable, but I tried to do my best.\u201d<\/p>\n It took ten takes for the scene, and director Anthony Hemingway<\/strong>, who worked with Grace<\/strong> on American Horror Story: Freak Show<\/em> and All\u2019s Fair<\/em>, pushed her to keep going. <\/p>\n \u201cHe said, \u2018Just go again. Go again.
