Delta<\/a><\/span> and American Express<\/a><\/span> are enhancing a benefit on most of their cobranded cards that’s sure to make loyal flyers happy.<\/p>\n

All personal and business Delta Amex cardmembers who pay an annual fee<\/a><\/span> now receive a second complimentary checked bag<\/a><\/span> on domestic U.S. flights. This means that every Delta Amex card \u2014 with the exception of the no-annual-fee<\/a><\/span> Delta SkyMiles\u00ae Blue American Express Card<\/a><\/span> (see rates and fees<\/a><\/span>) \u2014 carries the new benefit.<\/p>\n

This change is being rolled out along with a new ride-hailing perk<\/a><\/span> on the Delta SkyMiles\u00ae Gold American Express Card<\/a><\/span> and the Delta SkyMiles\u00ae Gold Business American Express Card<\/a><\/span>, as well as updated card designs across the whole suite and elevated welcome bonus offers for new cardmembers.<\/p>\n

Here’s what to know.<\/p>\n

Second checked bag free on most Delta cards<\/h2>\n

The following cards now unlock up to two free checked bags for the cardmember (and up to eight companions) traveling on the same reservation on domestic U.S. flights:<\/p>\n

Delta Air Lines \u2014 along with many other U.S. carriers, including American Airlines<\/a><\/span>, JetBlue<\/a><\/span> and United Airlines<\/a><\/span> \u2014 has raised checked bag<\/a><\/span> fees this year amid higher operating costs.<\/p>\n

Since Delta’s changes went into effect in early April, it now costs $45 each way to check your first bag and $55 for a second checked bag. That means that most Delta Amex cards (except the Blue) now offer up to $100 off bag fees per passenger on U.S. domestic flights when checking two bags.<\/p>\n

This is a positive change for frequent Delta flyers with a cobranded card<\/a><\/span> \u2014 especially the Delta Gold and Delta Business Gold cards, which each charge a $0 introductory annual fee for the first year (then $150 each year thereafter).*^<\/p>\n

New ride-hailing benefit on Delta Gold and Delta Business Gold<\/h2>\n

There’s more good news in store for Delta Gold<\/a><\/span> and Delta Business Gold<\/a><\/span> cardmembers.<\/p>\n

Upon account renewal (or a new account opening), these cards now include up to $10 monthly ride-hailing credit with select U.S. ride-hailing providers (up to $120 per calendar year; enrollment required).<\/p>\n

Eligible ride-hailing services include:<\/p>\n

The ride-hailing benefit was already available on the other four cards that charge an annual fee. Amex is now extending it to the personal and business Delta Gold cards.<\/p>\n

Note that while new cardmembers get immediate access to the credit, existing cardmembers won’t get it until their next annual fee hits. Make sure to enroll in the benefit to receive the credit.<\/p>\n

New card designs<\/h2>\n

All of Delta’s cobranded cards have undergone an aesthetic change, as Amex is rolling out an all-new design for all cards in the suite.<\/p>\n

The previous colors have been replaced with new hues and a slightly altered graphic design.<\/p>\n

The most prominent change is the retirement of the plum purple card art for the Delta Reserve<\/a><\/span> and Delta Business Reserve<\/a><\/span> cards; these top-tier Delta cards are now slate grey.<\/p>\n
