\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Shia LaBeouf<\/strong><\/a> is not going to jail after a Mardi Gras bar \u201ctussle.\u201d<\/p>\n The 39-year-old Holes<\/em> actor took a plea deal rather than heading to trial on Wednesday (June 3).<\/p>\n He pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor battery counts and received a suspended sentence and probation, via NOLA.com.<\/a><\/p>\n Magistrate Judge Juana Lombard<\/strong> gave him a six-month suspended sentence with two years\u2019 probation for the three simple battery counts.<\/p>\n The battery counts followed an apparent altercation at a French Quarter bar back in February amid Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans. Shia<\/strong> was arrested after allegedly striking two men<\/a> and being restrained.<\/p>\n His attorney, Sarah Chervinsky<\/strong>, issued a statement after the guilty plea.<\/p>\n \u201cThe police and DA investigation proved exactly what Shia Labeouf <\/strong>said from the beginning \u2014 that this was nothing more than a minor Mardi Gras bar tussle. There is no evidence it was about bias or prejudice, which is why the state only charged these low level misdemeanors. Mr. LaBeouf<\/strong> came to court today wanting to take accountability for his part in what happened, and he has done so. Now he\u2019s looking forward to focusing on family, work, and new creative projects.\u201d<\/p>\n One of the men involved in the incident alleged that\u00a0Shia<\/strong>\u00a0used homophobic slurs during the confrontation.<\/p>\n According to\u00a0NOLA.com<\/a>, police stated in a report that\u00a0Shia<\/strong>\u00a0was \u201creportedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive.\u201d<\/p>\n Video from the scene showed the actor removing his shirt before approaching the men, and he could reportedly be heard shouting, \u201cLet\u2019s fight, let\u2019s fight.\u201d <\/p>\n District Attorney Jason Williams<\/strong> filed the charges in May.
