Shakira<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about her split from Gerard Piqu\u00e9<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 49-year-old “Dai Dai” superstar got candid in a new cover story with People<\/em><\/a> after starting her life over again after her split from the 39-year-old soccer player, with whom she shares sons Milan<\/strong>, 13, and Sasha<\/strong>, 11.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen your world collapses, you have to get up and pay the bills and still prepare breakfast and take your kids to school. Life needs to go on,\u201d she explained to the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cMotherhood makes you strong. The moment I became a mother, I saw life through a different perspective, and my kids are not only the best thing that happened to me, but I\u2019ve learned so much from them every day,” she continued.<\/p>\n

As for her current relationship status?<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just thinking of raising my kids. I don\u2019t see that for now. Maybe when they\u2019re older,” she explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough those challenging moments, I discovered how resilient we all are.”<\/p>\n

Shakira <\/strong>and Piqu\u00e9 <\/strong>began dating after meeting while filming the music video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” before confirming their split in June 2022 amid his alleged affair.<\/p>\n

As far as her 2023 hit \u201cBzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53\u201d with the music producer Bizarrap<\/strong>, a diss track that addressed the alleged affair<\/a>, Shakira<\/strong> told People<\/em>: \u201cIt was just pure catharsis. I really needed to write about what I was going through and not have any censor.”<\/p>\n

“That song was just so good. And I remember us in the studio just dancing to it and jumping and celebrating because we knew the hit that we had in our hands. What I didn’t know is that when we released it, that same day was going to go to No. 1 on Spotify,” Shakira<\/strong> explained.<\/p>\n

“It was very therapeutic. I needed it. After that song came out and I wrote that song, I was like, ‘I feel lighter.’ And I feel like a lot of people, a lot of women who have been going through something similar, they were telling me how important that was for them,” she added.<\/p>\n
