I just couldn\u2019t believe that it\u2019s over,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Barry<\/strong> revealed his cancer on his website in December 2025 after going to the doctor in November to check on his hips. After conducting an MRI on his pelvis, the doctors checked his lungs, too, as he\u2019d recently had bronchitis.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThey checked my lungs, and they found the dot, the spot, that thing that you don\u2019t want to, you don\u2019t want to ever have,\u201d <strong>Barry<\/strong> said. \u201cThey said I had lung cancer and we have to get it out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The lobectomy left his voice altered.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"What Barry Manilow says about singing again after lung cancer diagnosis\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8eMFoYrB6hI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Speaking on <em>Good Morning America<\/em>, the \u201cMandy\u201d singer said he is still \u201cdoing good\u201d but getting past the cancer is taking longer than he expected. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Barry<\/strong> turns 83 on June 17, 2026, and he\u2019s got a busy slate year ahead of him. His new album <em>What a Time<\/em> releases on June 5. He also has several performances scheduled for 2026 with his first stadium show set for June 25 and his next Las Vegas residency in July.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t wait to get back. I\u2019m in great shape, I\u2019m ready to go. I just hope my voice is there. If I sound good, that would be just great.
