Euphoria<\/em><\/a>\u2018s Darrell Britt-Gibson<\/strong> clarified the confusion surrounding Bishop betraying Alamo in the series finale.<\/p>\n

\u201cBishop didn\u2019t agree with a lot of what Alamo did, but it was a job for him,\u201d Britt-Gibson told Variety<\/em><\/a> on Monday, June 1. \u201cI think what Alamo did to Rue was the final straw for Bishop.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor explained how Rue\u2019s (Zendaya<\/strong>) death affected<\/a> Bishop, adding, \u201cHe\u2019s also having that conversation with Maddy in the car. Rue was a bridge too far, and he\u2019s like, \u2018I promise I\u2019m not going to let you get to Maddy.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite some viewers assuming Bishop didn\u2019t care for Rue, Britt-Gibson thought differently.<\/p>\n

During the Sunday, May 31, episode of the HBO show, Ali (Colman Domingo) came into the Silver Slipper to avenge Rue\u2019s (Zendaya) death. He held Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) at gunpoint before they agreed to a Western-style showdown. But when Alamo drew his [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThere are a million different ways to look at it, from a character standpoint. It plays like he doesn\u2019t care, but if you look deep enough, there are moments of Bishop being like a big brother who is hard on her,\u201d he explained. \u201cYou know those figures in your life who are like, \u2018Don\u2019t hang out with those people. Those are not good people. You shouldn\u2019t be here.\u2019 The way Yana Grebenyuk Sam [Levinson] wrote it is up to interpretation. He gives it space for it to be seen however people want to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Britt-Gibson saw Bishop as someone waiting to take down Alamo, saying, \u201cHe\u2019s been waiting. He\u2019s so calculated. It\u2019s chess. It\u2019s always chess for Bishop.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the Sunday, May 31, episode of the HBO show, Ali (Colman Domingo<\/strong>) came into the Silver Slipper to avenge Rue\u2019s death. He held Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje<\/strong>) at gunpoint before they agreed to a Western-style showdown. But when Alamo drew his gun at Ali, it misfired.<\/a><\/p>\n

It was later seen that his associate Bishop secretly unloaded the gun so there wouldn\u2019t be any bullets. This caused Ali to spare Bishop, but it also left viewers perplexed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is just my conjecture, but I think when you\u2019re in a position of power like Alamo, there are always people within your fray that would want the top seat,\u201d Akinnuoye-Agbaje told Variety on Sunday. \u201cBishop would be one of those guys. Kidd [Asante Blackk] has an opportunity to shoot Ali as well, because he has his gun, but Bishop tells him no. So it\u2019s not just Bishop. Kidd doesn\u2019t stand up for Alamo as a boss.\u201d<\/p>\n

Akinnuoye-Agbaje teased a \u201cchanging of the guards,\u201d<\/a> saying, \u201cEverything seems to be crumbling, and they\u2019ve realized this is the time to take the reins with Bishop.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cAlamo could be somewhat demonstrative toward Bishop, too. He kind of puts him down, ridicules him a little bit. He says he\u2019s got no manners, he doesn\u2019t speak, he talks in this monotone. He plays him a bit like an idiot, even though he knows he\u2019s useful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Akinnuoye-Agbaje went on to shut down theories that Bishop is a secret hero.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think Alamo particularly likes the fact that, of all his henchmen, Bishop actually enjoys killing,\u201d he noted. \u201cThere\u2019s something extremely psychotic about him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bishop\u2019s decision was ultimately nothing more than a \u201cpower move,\u201d with Akinnuoye-Agbaje concluding, \u201cBishop knows this is the time to do it. Maddy\u2019s there, and I think he has intentions for her as well. This is probably the first time we\u2019ve seen Bishop be favorable toward a woman. He\u2019s plotting his own path.\u201d<\/p>\n
