Goldie Hawn<\/a>. <\/p>\nSpeaking about his decision to relocate during an interview with People at the Madison FYC Panel in Los Angeles on Saturday (30.05.26), Kurt said: \u201cWhat I want to look at, what I want to be a part of \u2013 all the things that Colorado has to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n
Explaining the appeal of the state, Kurt said the move was motivated by lifestyle rather than any desire to leave Hollywood behind.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cI wanted to eventually get into the ranching life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKurt, whose career has included starring roles in Escape from New York, The Thing, Tombstone, Backdraft and Miracle, said he and Goldie have spent four decades building a ranching life in Colorado after purchasing land in the Old Snowmass area. <\/p>\n
\nThe couple \u2013 one of Hollywood\u2019s longest-lasting partnerships \u2013\u00a0raised their family there, including Oliver Hudson, Kate Hudson, Wyatt Russell and Boston Russell.<\/p>\n
\nReflecting on the early years of his relationship with Goldie, Kurt added: \u201cWhen Goldie and I got together, a couple of years later, we both built a ranch there together, where our family has grown up. That was 40 years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe actor added his decision was viewed as unusual at the time, particularly within the entertainment industry, where most stars remained based in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cI wasn’t escaping. I was just living where I live.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKurt continued: \u201cI was fortunate that it really didn’t make any difference. But when I did it, nobody else was doing that. I had many people tell me, \u2018Well, that’s goodbye. That’s it\u2019. I said, \u2018Well, we’ll see\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIn recent years, Kurt and Goldie have continued to attract attention as one of Hollywood\u2019s most enduring couples. <\/p>\n
\nGoldie remains beloved to fans thanks to her films including Private Benjamin, Overboard, Death Becomes Her and The First Wives Club \u2013 while Kurt\u2019s filmography has spanned more than six decades, from Disney productions in his youth to collaborations with director Quentin Tarantino in The Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.<\/p>\n
\nDiscussing his feelings towards Los Angeles, Kurt stressed he has no ill will towards the city.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cI don’t dislike L.A. \u2013\u00a0it\u2019s just not my preference in terms of how I like to live my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking about Old Snowmass, he added: \u201cYou’ve got to understand something about the area of Old Snowmass. Everybody who lives there, they live there because they want to. I can’t say that about L.A..\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKurt also explained sharing Colorado\u2019s outdoor lifestyle with his children was one of the greatest rewards of the move.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cIt’s very different from living in a city.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDescribing the environment in which his children grew up, Kurt said: \u201cThey grew up with a good dose of what nature can offer. There are difficulties to it, but there are also great rewards to it. I’m just more comfortable there.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe actor also drew comparisons with his own upbringing.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cIt was like the way I grew up in Maine.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKurt added: \u201cI suppose, once you’re exposed to that kind of thing, it’s always home. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cEverything we did there in terms of what we built and what we have in terms of being able to offer in life for our children, I’m really, really happy that we were able to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
