Euphoria<\/em><\/a> went out with a bang after the season 3 finale<\/a> killed off a crucial main character halfway into the episode.<\/p>\n

During the Sunday, May 31, episode of the hit HBO series, Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje<\/strong>) killed Rue (Zendaya<\/strong>) after he found out that she was working undercover to take him down. He gave her pain killers that were laced with fentanyl that she overdosed on halfway into the finale.<\/p>\n

Ali (Colman Domingo) found Rue dead on his couch and the rest of the episode followed his mission to get revenge against Alamo. The final episode of the show was Ali at the farm that Rue spent time with in the season 3 premiere, which she promised was the most peaceful place.<\/p>\n

While Rue\u2019s death may come as a shock to some, other fans were prepared for Zendaya\u2019s arc to get wrapped up in the presumed series finale. The actress was previously asked by Drew Barrymore in April whether the show was over for good after season 3.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think so, yeah,\u201d she said on Barrymore\u2019s eponymous talk show. \u201cThat closure is coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

Creator Sam Levinson<\/strong>, meanwhile, was more vague.<\/p>\n

\u201c[I write] every season like it\u2019s the last season,\u201d he told Variety in April. \u201c[I have] no plans [for season 4].\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI want to finish this as strong as I can. I\u2019m cutting [episodes] 7 and 8 still. I\u2019m putting some finishing touches. I just want to deliver a f***ing slam dunk season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rue wasn\u2019t the only major casualty<\/a> in the show\u2019s third season. Jacob Elordi<\/strong>\u2018s character, Nate, also suffered a grim fate when he was killed in a box in the ground from a rattlesnake bite.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a cool way to go. Nate was someone who has made so many mistakes and made so many dark choices,\u201d Elordi explained in a segment that aired after the May 24 episode. \u201cIt\u2019s cool to see it all come to what it\u2019s come to.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elordi recalled having to film in a coffin, adding, \u201cMy shoulders were touching the side and they couldn\u2019t move my arms. Then they would drill the lid on it and it would get dark. \u2029It was really nice, actually. It was quite peaceful in there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The stunt team, meanwhile, stressed how importan<\/a>t it was to make sure the actor had oxygen. They praised Elordi for agreeing to spend \u201cminimal time in the coffin.\u201d Levinson, for his part, said he \u201cwanted to shoot it with a real snake\u201d so a rattlesnake and a boa constrictor were both featured on screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cSnakes were rattling, which was really alarming when you are locked in a box,\u201d Elordi noted. \u201cThey had a boa constrictor that they put a fake rattler on the end of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cHe was super cute. He was really cuddly. So he kind of just sidled up next to me and it was nice. But he was really sleepy. He was a sleepy snake. I had to kind of nudge him to get him to come up. And that was it.\u201d<\/p>\n
