Jenny Mollen compares herself to ‘spare’ Prince Harry<\/p>\n
\nThe 47-year-old actress and writer and the 48-year-old American Pie actor announced their split earlier this month after 18 years of marriage but Jenny admitted she always struggled to deal with Jason\u2019s fame.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking on the What Matters With Liz podcast, she explained: \u201cWhen I got together with Jason, I always had a chip on my shoulder in the beginning because I felt like suddenly I went from being the oldest daughter and I felt like I had my s*** together and then suddenly, I married this guy who in a lot of ways – career wise – totally eclipsed me. Everybody was like, \u2018Oh my God, Jason Biggs,\u2019 and I became the guest. And it drove me crazy to always just be, like, brushed to the side.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe also joked she could relate Prince Harry, who called his memoir Spare, a reference to being the second-born child of Britain\u2019s King Charles.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cTo be the spare and not the heir. It was like, \u2018What is happening?\u2019 I was the spare. I was the American Pie spare. I relate to Harry. That drove me mad and I always had this feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJenny\u2019s podcast appearance was recorded before her split from Jason was announced. <\/p>\n
\nThe former couple \u2013 who share kids Sid, 12, and Lazlo, eight – have long been known for their candid discussions about marriage, parenting and addiction on social media, podcasts and television appearances.<\/p>\n
\nAccording to a report in the Daily Mail, they had previously attended therapy together in an attempt to save the relationship.<\/p>\n
\nThe source said: \u201cI think if they didn\u2019t do therapy, they would\u2019ve split maybe two or three years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThey added Jason – who remains best known for playing Jim Levenstein in the hugely successful American Pie franchise alongside Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan and Eugene Levy – and Jenny had been \u201ctruly a team\u201d throughout much of their marriage despite ongoing \u201cissues\u201d between them \u201cfor a while now\u201d.<\/p>\n
