The 54-year-old actress shares two children with Ben, who she wed in 2000, but the pair announced their separation in 2017. <\/p>\n
They confirmed in 2022 that they were back together, and Christine said in a chat on the McBride Rewind podcast that it was the Covid-19 pandemic, and the therapy sessions she and Ben had during the lockdown, that helped them get back on track.<\/p>\n
Christine said: \u201cIf there\u2019s a silver lining for us during Covid, that was the little gift. We all kind of bubbled up together with our kids. Our daughter was graduating high school at the time, our son was graduation eighth grade. We all were in the house together and we had nothing but time.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo Ben and I spent a lot of time just working on us with a therapist and we’d log into Zoom and we’d do our therapy sessions and\u00a0really found the way back. I think it’s something people don’t love to talk about because it feels like a failure.’<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBy the way, if the right answer for us was that it didn’t work, but we were able to figure that out very clearly and focused, then that’s great too.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n‘Life moves at such a rapid pace that we don’t often take the time to just pause and say, \u2018Okay, he looked at his stuff, I looked at my stuff\u2019\u2026 long-term marriages are a lot of work.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nNow, Christine and Ben are \u201creally stronger and better than ever\u201d, and she\u2019s hoping that opening up about the situation will help others be more honest about their own issues <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cI feel really comfortable talking about it because I think it’s really important for people to feel like that’s okay.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe Zoolander star also said that the actual decision to separate wasn\u2019t one they made easily. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI can talk about it now… but in the moment, I mean, it was very difficult to come to that decision.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt was not light. It was not without a heavy heart and feeling really, even, dejected at the time of like this is not how I imagined it was going to be and we should have been able to work it out.\u201d<\/p>\n
