\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n The new horror movie Backrooms<\/strong><\/a><\/em> is going to be the big film at this weekend\u2019s box office and it was directed by a teenager!<\/p>\n Kane Parsons<\/strong><\/a> was just 19 years old when he directed the movie and there are people on the internet trying to claim that he wasn\u2019t behind the camera. The film is based on his YouTube series <\/a>of the same name. <\/p>\n Backrooms<\/em> actor Mark Duplass<\/strong><\/a> is now coming to his defense.<\/p>\n Mark<\/strong> tweeted in response to a false claim, \u201cHmmm, with all due respect I don\u2019t remember seeing you on set. When I was there, Kane was 100% in control. More so than many directors 3x his age.\u201d<\/p>\n \n<\/center><\/p>\n Mark<\/strong> also went on Instagram to release a lengthier response. <\/p>\n \u201cA lot of takes going around right now about whether Kane Parsons, at the tender age of 19, actually directed Backrooms<\/em> or whether it was more ghost directed by one of his more experienced producers. I was there,\u201d Mark <\/strong>said. \u201cI suspect one of the reasons I was hired was because I mentor a lot of young filmmakers, and they may have thought it was good to have someone there who\u2019s sensitive to that, and I was prepared to help out. And what happened was he didn\u2019t need any of us. He was intensely prepared.\u201d <\/p>\n Mark<\/strong> added, \u201cHe spent the last five years of his life building out one of the most detailed mythologies I\u2019ve ever been a part of. Worked incredibly closely with his crew, particularly his DP and shot design, and was very sensitive and calm and smart in dealing with actors. So, for those of you who have all these thoughts, were you there?\u201d<\/p>\n A24\u2019s take on the film has a simple logline that sets up the gateway into the terrifying world of Backrooms<\/em>.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, those interested in seeing the new movie will have to head out and see it in theaters, but it is a nationwide release and should be playing at a cinema near you.
