If you don’t know, the show was co-created by Lucia Aniello<\/strong><\/a>, Paul W. Downs<\/strong><\/a> and Jen Statsky<\/strong>, and they always had a five-season arc in mind.<\/p>\n

When they pitched the show to HBO, they actually pitched it as a series that would only have five seasons. They even revealed the show’s final scene at that time.<\/p>\n

“We’ve always been going toward that idea,” Lucia <\/strong>told the The New York Times<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

She reiterated to Deadline<\/em><\/a> in February 2026, “Like, ‘It’s five seasons, this is what the last scene is.’ It is still the same, so for us, it’s something we’ve been building toward for a long time. So I really do hope people find the end of the season as satisfying as we do.”<\/p>\n

Why is Hacks <\/em>ending after five seasons?<\/h3>\n

Paul<\/strong>, who portrays Jimmy on the show, explained the reasoning.<\/p>\n

“We wanted to go out with a bang. We really wanted to make this a complete circle, and getting the chance to do that is really rare. So we were very excited, and we feel very honored that we were able to tell the story the way we set out to do it,” he shared with The Wrap<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n
