Well, what I opened on is that there wasn\u2019t going to be one overall incentive for all of them, and I still don\u2019t\u2014you don\u2019t see, like, one overarching incentive. Money is always an incentive for people, and jurors take a really hard look at that.<\/p>\n
In the Alexander trial, the vast majority were allowed to testify under full pseudonyms. So they were allowed to come in under a name that wasn\u2019t their own and swear on an oath.\u2026 To me, it was such an erosion of the presumption of innocence and an erosion of our process.<\/p>\n
One of Weinstein\u2019s previous attorneys during his first trial in 2020 was Donna Rotunno<\/a>. When Vanity Fair<\/em> ran a profile of her tied to the trial, the headline was \u201cWho Would Defend Harvey Weinstein?\u201d Now it\u2019s like, lots of people.<\/strong><\/p>\n That\u2019s amazing.<\/p>\n She was also on the cover of Chicago<\/em> magazine as \u201cthe anti\u2013Gloria Allred.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n I love that.<\/p>\n Why?<\/strong><\/p>\n I think\u2014as the anti\u2013Gloria Allred\u2014in many ways what she has done is incredible for women; I have to put that aside. But what she has done for criminal cases is an erosion of what I think is the presumption of innocence.<\/p>\n I love to be up there fighting for my client; she does too. So it\u2019s good to have another perspective. We shouldn\u2019t only hear from Gloria Allred and Lisa Bloom. We should hear from the defendant\u2019s perspective as well because that\u2019s how our system will keep running.<\/p>\n We give so much air time to the accusers and not to the accused. They have a story to tell too. And what I think we\u2019re seeing in these verdicts is that jurors see that. The context is important.<\/p>\n Are you political?<\/strong><\/p>\n I\u2019m not that political. I think prosecutors are more political. Defense lawyers are not.<\/p>\n Your dad is a big, big, big personality.<\/strong><\/p>\n Yeah, much different than I am.<\/p>\n When he called the Diddy prosecutors a \u201csix-pack of white women,\u201d<\/a> what\u2019s your reaction?<\/strong><\/p>\n I think what he was trying to say is in California, when you\u2026do an ID [of suspects in a lineup], it\u2019s a six-pack<\/a>.<\/p>\n I was like, Oh, dad, I just can\u2019t believe you. But I had tremendous respect for those prosecutors. He goes off. I can\u2019t control what he says. The short version is: I cannot control what that man says.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve been trying to make a niche for myself separate from my dad\u2019s reputation and kind of make my own way. I\u2019ve done a lot, I think, and I\u2019ve tried to make my own way, but do it with my personality. You\u2019ll never succeed if you\u2019re trying to be someone that you\u2019re not. I am much more measured, even-keeled. I do not have that pit bull personality. I\u2019m just strong, precise.<\/p>\n
