Paris Jackson has reevaluated how she talks about her late dad Michael<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old star was just 11 years old when the Thriller hitmaker died in 2009, and she has reached a point where she doesn’t feel an obligation to share their bond with the wider world.<\/p>\n
Appearing on the Trying Not To Die podcast, she explained: “I’m now learning I can have my own personal relationship and I’m allowed to be private about it.<\/p>\n
“I’m now like, my relationship is the most beautiful relationship ever…<\/p>\n
\u201cI’m in a very beautiful spot with my dad and I love that and it’s no one’s business and I don’t have to share that with anybody.<\/p>\n
\n“And there’s a lot of freedom in that, which is really cool.”<\/p>\n
\nThe Let Down singer has previously felt pressure to pay public tributes to the King of Pop on milestones like his birthday, anniversary of his death, and even Father’s Day.<\/p>\n
\nParis, who has siblings Prince, 29, and Bigi, 24, said: “That has drastically changed in the last few years.<\/p>\n
\n“I don’t really feel like any of us owe anyone anything.”<\/p>\n
\nFor Paris, she also doesn’t want to simply “mimic how a fan would express their love” for Michael, as it would feel inauthentic.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: “I’m not going to express my love in a copycat way, copying someone that didn’t know him. Because I did. That was my best friend.”<\/p>\n
\nLast year, Paris took to social media to claim she had no involvement in the production of recent biopic Michael, which saw the title role played by the pop icon’s nephew Jaafar Jackson.<\/p>\n
\nParis posted on her Instagram Story: “[Colman Domingo], don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had 0 per cent involvement in lol that is so weird.”<\/p>\n
\nShe added in a second post: “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest \/ didn’t sit right with me, and when they didn’t address it, I moved on with my life. Not my monkeys, not my circus. God bless and God speed.”<\/p>\n
\nColman, 56, starred as family patriarch Joe Jackson in the Antoine Fuqua-directed flick.<\/p>\n
\nBack in March, it was revealed he had been in touch with Paris to “smooth things over,” which she “really appreciated”. <\/p>\n
\nIn an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she said: “I really appreciated the sentiment of it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBecause there\u2019s lots of miscommunications, and things get twisted.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAnd Colman hopes that Paris can enjoy the Michael Jackson biopic.<\/p>\n
\nHe told WSJ Magazine: “I hope that she eventually loves the tribute that we made about her father.”<\/p>\n
