Speaking on The Mitch Churi Chat Show<\/a><\/em>, Mel C<\/strong> said many people assumed she was gay because of her athletic image and signature style within the iconic girl group.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019ve got all the different ones and the one who\u2019s in the active wear. It was assumed or suggested that I was gay,\u201d Mel C<\/strong> explained.<\/p>\n While the singer said she was never personally bothered by the speculation itself, she took issue with the stereotypes behind it.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t personally have a problem with that. I mean, it\u2019s none of their friggin\u2019 business. But I just thought, to base it on somebody\u2019s look or the way that they dress, yeah, it was a bit s\u2013t of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Over the years, those assumptions also contributed to Mel C<\/strong> building a strong and loyal LGBTQ+ fanbase, something she has often acknowledged and celebrated.<\/p>\n This isn\u2019t the first time Mel C<\/strong> has spoken about the issue. In 2024, the singer discussed what she described as the \u201cvery rude\u201d assumptions people made based on her appearance and fashion choices.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople said I looked like a lesbian because I had short hair. But how can you look like a lesbian?
