Euphoria<\/em><\/a> surprised viewers by killing off Nate Jacobs \u2014 but how did Jacob Elordi<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s character die on screen?<\/p>\n

Season 3 of the hit HBO show followed Nate as he struggled<\/a> with the debt he owed to an Armenian mobster. He had several body parts chopped off while trying to find the money to clear up his issues. Nate even got his wife, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney<\/strong>), involved and she started to make money on OnlyFans to support him.<\/p>\n

During the Sunday, May 24, episode of Euphoria<\/em>, Cassie was told she had 72 hours<\/a> to get $1 million to save Nate. Viewers saw that he was trapped in a box underground and would soon die from dehydration. While Cassie was trying to find the money to free Nate, a snake entered his box and appeared to attack him.<\/p>\n

Later in the episode, Cassie \u2014 with help from Maddy (Alexa Demie<\/strong>) and Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje<\/strong>)<\/a> arrived to save Nate. The only problem? He was already dead after several fatal bites from the rattlesnake.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tEuphoria is building up to its third \u2014 and possibly last \u2014 finale with several characters potentially being set up for an onscreen death. Based on the Israeli series of the same name, Euphoria followed troubled high school student Rue (Zendaya) as she struggled to remain sober after rehab. The series also explored topics including [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThat was a cool way to go. Nate was someone who has made so many mistakes and made so many dark choices,\u201d Elordi explained in a segment that aired after the Sunday, May 24, episode. \u201cIt\u2019s cool to see it all come to what it\u2019s come to.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elordi recalled having to film<\/a> in a coffin, adding, \u201cMy shoulders were touching the side and they couldn\u2019t move my arms. Then they would drill the lid on it and it would get dark. \u2029It was really nice, actually. It was quite peaceful in there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The stunt team, meanwhile, stressed how important it was to make sure the actor had oxygen. They praised Elordi for agreeing to spend \u201cminimal time in the coffin.\u201d Viewers may be surprised, however, to find out that creator Sam Levinson<\/strong> \u201cwanted to shoot it with a real snake\u201d so a rattlesnake and a boa constrictor were both featured on screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cSnakes were rattling, which was really alarming when you are locked in a box,\u201d Elordi noted. \u201cThey had a boa constrictor that they put a fake rattler on the end of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cHe was super cute. He was really cuddly. So he kind of just sidled up next to me and it was nice. But he was really sleepy. He was a sleepy snake. I had to kind of nudge him to get him to come up. And that was it.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the end of the segment, Elordi reflected on his time<\/a> playing Nate.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a bittersweet thing,\u201d he said. \u201cThis show is a massive part of \u2014 not just my career \u2014 but my life. It\u2019s been amazing and I\u2019m so proud of being a part of this.\u201d<\/p>\n
