Megan Lawless<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about a pivotal scene that Obsession<\/strong><\/a><\/em> fans will surely never forget.<\/p>\n

The actress, who plays Sarah in the hit indie horror movie<\/a>, recently spoke out about one scene in particular from the film that nearly caused it to get a NC-17 rating. (Warning: spoilers ahead!)<\/p>\n

Megan Lawless Reveals Sarah\u2019s Death Scene Was Even More Violent<\/h3>\n

\u201cThat was my favorite day on set. It was just a little ridiculous, if you take a step back and you see everything that\u2019s going on behind the scenes, because Inde [Navarrette]<\/strong> was wearing this crazy wig that had a helmet underneath it, basically something to protect her head when she bashed into the glass,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe looked so funny, it was just hilarious. She had to commit to running into the glass as fast as she could and charging at me. We had to play out this thing that felt a little silly, but with 100 percent commitment, as actors do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we didn\u2019t have many tries. We had two takes to get it right. They were like, \u2018Don\u2019t actually hold her head hard or push her head in. We can\u2019t do that for safety reasons,; so she was holding her hand gently on the back of my head, and then I was miming, slamming my head into the brick, and that whole sequence is just funny. There was a doll version of myself that they placed in, and they bashed the head in next. It\u2019s peak actors acting, that feels silly, but you need to commit,\u201d she laughed.<\/p>\n

Megan <\/strong>then acknowledged that there was a more violent version of the scene that nearly landed the movie a NC-17 rating after premiering at TIFF last year, and her response to the reaction to that scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so funny you asked that, because the reaction was completely unexpected to me. I\u2019m sitting here like, \u2018Aw, poor Sarah gets brutally killed.\u2019 The whole theater at TIFF erupted into cheering at that moment. I was like, \u2018Why is everyone cheering? Ouch!’\u201d she laughed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did not expect everyone to be cheering. I thought people would be crying, maybe. (Laughs.<\/em>) But I think it\u2019s because the moment is so iconic. These horror fans, that\u2019s their bread and butter. They just go bananas for something like that. And that version had me in ADR originally. Curry [Barker] <\/strong>wanted me to make gurgling noises that he would add into that scene, after my head is actually kicked in. So, you\u2019d hear Sarah gurgling, like she\u2019s still alive, and they took that out when they edited it to not be NC-17, but it was brutal.\u201d<\/p>\n
