President\u00a0 Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a> is\u00a0 using the recent, deadly shooting outside the White House<\/a> to justify the construction of the former reality TV star\u2019s controversial ballroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to our great Secret Service<\/a> and Law Enforcement for the swift and professional action taken this evening against a gunman near the White House, who had a violent history and possible obsession with our Country\u2019s most cherished structure,\u201d the commander-in-chief, 79, wrote via his social media platform, Truth Social, on Saturday, May 23.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe gunman is dead after an exchange of gunfire with Secret Service Agents near the White House gates,\u201d Trump continued. \u201cThis event is one month removed from the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner shooting, and goes to show how important it is, for all future Presidents, to get, what will be, the most safe and secure space of its kind ever built in Washington, D.C. The national Security of our Country demands it!\u201d<\/p>\n

On Saturday, a Secret Service agent confirmed to Us Weekly<\/em> that a shooter was shot and killed<\/a> and a bystander was injured during the violent incident outside the White House. The suspected shooter \u2014 who has yet to be publicly named at the time of publication \u2014 allegedly opened fire at a Secret Service checkpoint at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington D.C., though no agents were injured.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPresident Donald Trump has said he is \u201chonored\u201d to be a target following the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner shooting. \u201cWhen you look at our great presidents, [this] doesn\u2019t happen to people who don\u2019t do anything,\u201d Trump, 79, told reporters at the White House on Saturday, April 25. Multiple media outlets reported that a 30-year-old man [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cShortly after 6 p.m. Saturday, an individual in the area of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue pulled a weapon from his bag and began firing,\u201d Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi<\/strong><\/a> told Us<\/em> at the time. \u201cSecret Service Police returned fire, striking the suspect who was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. During the shooting, one bystander was also struck by gunfire.\u201d<\/p>\n
