Off Campus<\/em> ended its first<\/a> season with a serious twist \u2014 and now the actor involved is breaking their silence on the major book change.<\/p>\n

During season 1, which premiered in May, Allie (Mika Abdalla<\/strong>) formed a connection with a mystery man who she then hooked up with amid a casual relationship with Dean (Stephen Kalyn<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

The final scene of the season<\/a> showed Dean getting into an argument with the guy \u2014 previously referred to as Carter \u2014 who turned out to be Hunter Davenport (Charlie Evans<\/strong>) but no further details were revealed. There appeared to be a hint that Dean\u2019s issues were connected to his sister, Summer, dating Hunter in the past.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went in for Carter St. James V, and I knew he was wealthy,\u201d Evans told Swooon<\/em><\/a> about how much he knew about the role before booking it. \u201cI knew a little bit [that] he played for a rival team, things like that, just vague details. But no, I only found out after I got the job who he actually was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans of Elle Kennedy<\/strong>\u2018s book series are familiar<\/a> with the character, who was Dean\u2019s teammate in The Score<\/em> and they were on good terms. Hunter then became the focus of his own book \u2014 The Play<\/em> \u2014 while Summer was featured prominently in The Chase.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I know is that Yana Grebenyuk Louisa [Levy]<\/strong> has a pretty stellar layout for season 2 that she\u2019s ready to shoot, and it\u2019s all about Dean,\u201d Evans teased. \u201cIt\u2019s all about Dean\u2019s world and Dean\u2019s history, and everyone close to him, and not so close to him, and I\u2019m very excited for people to see that story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Evans didn\u2019t rule out meeting Summer<\/a> \u2014 and exploring her past with Hunter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think anything\u2019s possible. I think the way that we\u2019re doing this show, Louisa has very cleverly set up these characters to be malleable and to react to their environments,\u201d he added. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of topical, beautiful story shifts that she\u2019s made that translate incredibly well on-screen, and that she\u2019s going to continue to make.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued \u201cI mean, she really knows everything about the future of this story and how she wants it to be told, and I\u2019m so grateful to be a part of that because it is comprehensive. I\u2019ve been in those rooms and seen the boards, and they have the books out, and they\u2019re pulling pages, and it\u2019s really impressive.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Evans, it was always the plan to shake things up with Hunter.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThis was always the setup for Season 2. We knew the plan when we started, and that was where we went,\u201d he shared. \u201cI think we were pretty clear about that from the beginning. We wanted a big climactic ending. We wanted everyone in the same place. I mean, Louisa plans this stuff well in advance. She\u2019s got the next five books down, ready to go.\u201d<\/p>\n
