\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Shailene Woodley<\/strong><\/a> is sharing some rare comments about her close friend Ansel Elgort<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n If you didn\u2019t know, the 34-year-old actress and the 32-year-old actor have been good friends for years and have worked together several times on The Fault in Our Stars<\/em> and on the Divergent<\/em> movies.<\/p>\n \u201cAnsel Elgort<\/strong> is to this day one of my best friends,\u201d Shailene<\/strong> shared with Variety<\/a><\/em>. \u201cI feel like he transcends the label of best friend. He is like family to me. I love him so, so deeply.\u201d<\/p>\n Shailene<\/strong> and Ansel<\/strong> met while working on the first Divergent<\/em> movie, which was released in 2014. They played siblings Tris and Caleb.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen we were doing the first divergent movie, we really connected, and we became sort of instant siblings,\u201d she recalled. \u201cThe dynamic between us is always very sweet, and it was very supportive, and he would come over to my house, and we would cook and just talk for hours after work.\u201d<\/p>\n Then in The Fault in Our Stars<\/em>, they played love interests Hazel and Gus.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I heard he was auditioning for Fault in Our Stars<\/em>, I was like \u2018Oh that\u2019s sweet, but like obviously it\u2019s never gonna happen because he\u2019s my brother in Divergent<\/em>, like there\u2019s no world where [that happens].\u2019 And then he was cast,\u201d Shailene<\/strong> said. \u201cYou know, he\u2019s kind of the only person on Earth who could\u2019ve played Gus.\u201d<\/p>\n The Emmy-nominated actress went on to say that her real-life connection with Ansel<\/strong> made their characters\u2019 chemistry on screen stronger.<\/p>\n \u201cI think actually what made our relationship in that movie as tender as it was and as truly like unconditionally loving as it was [because] Ansel and I do genuinely love one another,\u201d Shailene<\/strong> explained. \u201cIt\u2019s so rare that you get to see love explored without intimacy, and although there is intimacy between Hazel and Gus, the core of it is just unconditional love. It\u2019s two people walking each other home.
