Prince William<\/a> is “very proud” of his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales following her trip to Italy.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Prince William was delighted to see his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales make a successful visit to Italy<\/p>\n
The 44-year-old royal carried out a two-day visit to the city of Reggio Emilia last week – her first overseas engagement since being diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in 2024 – and William expressed his joy at seeing his wife make a successful return to royal duties on the global stage.<\/p>\n
Quizzed on if he was proud of Catherine’s visit to Italy, the Prince of Wales told the Heart radio breakfast show: “So proud, very, very proud. She’s been amazing.<\/p>\n
“She’s been through so much in the last couple of years, particularly. She’d been looking forward to the Italian trip a lot, and so I’m really glad it went really well.”<\/p>\n
William, 43, also gave an insight into the painstaking preparation that Catherine had put in to the trip, where the princess continued her work for the Centre for Early Childhood – the foundation she set up in 2021.<\/p>\n
\nThe prince – who has children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven, with Catherine – explained: “She wanted to go and do lots of research. She spends God knows how much time now looking through all the paperwork. She’s a proper pro on early years and so most evenings I’m fighting to get past in the bedroom what paperwork that she’s got lined up ready to read.”<\/p>\n
\nCatherine – who announced that she was in remission from cancer in January 2025 – received a rapturous reception in Italy but William explained that the couple are taking a steady approach as she returns to royal duties around the globe.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “It’s kind of just sort of edging herself back into doing more and more of those trips. <\/p>\n
\n“Away trips like that take a lot out of you because you’re on sort of permanent receive and send the whole time. And so, we have to balance that – make sure she’s okay and rested. But, yeah, she’s in good form.”<\/p>\n
\nWilliam has been delighted to see his wife get a sense of normality back in her life following her cancer battle.<\/p>\n
\nThe royal said: “She’s an amazing mum, an amazing wife, and literally our family couldn’t cope without her. She’s been absolutely stunning. Really has.”<\/p>\n
