Kathy Griffin<\/strong><\/a> is sharing a self-described \u201cTMI\u201d update on her health.<\/p>\n

Posting via her Instagram<\/a> on Thursday, May 21, Griffin, 65, revealed that she had been hospitalized after a medical procedure.<\/p>\n

\u201cI spent the night in hospital because I had complications from my colonoscopy,\u201d Griffin wrote.<\/p>\n

While Griffin did not elaborate on why she underwent the procedure, the comedian assured her fans that she is now on the mend despite the health setback.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tKathy Griffin has revealed that she recently underwent a hysterectomy. \u201cHappy Monday! I had a hysterectomy on Friday,\u201d the comedian, 64, wrote via Instagram on Monday, April 7. \u201cThat\u2019s right they took out the uterus, the fallopian tubes & the ovaries. Pre-cancerous [sic], blah blah blah.\u201d While Griffin didn\u2019t expand on her condition, she announced [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI know, I know, very sexy but I am home now with the doggies where I belong,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

According to the Mayo Clinic, a colonoscopy \u201cis an examination of the inside of your large intestine (colon). It\u2019s helpful for diagnosing gastrointestinal diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer. It can also help treat and prevent colon cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Griffin\u2019s followers flocked to her post\u2019s comments section to send their well wishes after the ordeal.<\/p>\n

\u201cFeel better soon \u2764\ufe0f\u201d wrote one, while another added, \u201cUgh\u2026 I\u2019m so sorry this has happened. Bounce back, dear Kathy.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the first time Griffin has been candid about undergoing health procedures<\/a>. In 2010, Griffin received a poolside pap smear on her show, My Life on the D-List<\/em>, in order to raise awareness for how important the medical procedure is for women\u2019s health issues.<\/p>\n
