R.J. Decker<\/em><\/a> ended with a bang, a big splash and a shocking death \u2014 and according to actress Jaina Lee Ortiz<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0season 2 will be just as surprising.<\/p>\n

Warning: Spoilers below from season 1, episode 9, of R.J. Decker.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI really hope he\u2019s not dead,\u201d Ortiz, who plays Emi Ochoa, told TV Insider<\/em><\/a> on Thursday, May 21, referring to her TV father Victor Ochoa (David Zayas<\/strong>), who was killed during the April 28 finale<\/a>. \u201cI want him to jump out of the water and gasp for air because it\u2019s not fair. I love David Zayas.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Ortiz, 39, would love to continue to act alongside Zayas, 63, the corrupt politician\u2019s death \u2014 he was shot and left floating in the pool to end the season \u2014 will open the door for even more drama next season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tR.J. Decker ended season 1 with a shocking death \u2014 despite the show not being renewed for more episodes yet. During the Tuesday, April 28, episode Emi\u2019s (Jaina Lee Ortiz) father, Victor (David Zayas), was killed after being put behind bars. The shocking twist wrapped up the first season while teasing what R.J. (Scott Speedman) [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI feel like it\u2019s going to be very juicy,\u201d Ortiz said of season 2, noting that Emi\u2019s strong connection to her father will make solving his murder even more complicated.<\/p>\n

During the season 1 finale, private detective R.J. Decker (Scott Speedman<\/strong><\/a>) teamed up with Emi to take down Victor with help from R.J.\u2019s former cellmate, Wish Aiken (Kevin Rankin<\/strong>), his ex-wife, journalist Catherine Delacroix (Adelaide Clemens<\/strong>), and her new wife and police detective Mel Abreu (Bevin Bru<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

As fans learned this past season, R.J. went to jail after he got into a fight with Victor\u2019s son and Emi\u2019s brother, Lucas Ochoa (Maximo Salas<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

What viewers didn\u2019t know until the end of the season was that Victor orchestrated the whole thing, telling his son to purposely steal R.J.\u2019s camera equipment because his pictures might trace back to Victor\u2019s more unseemly activities.<\/p>\n

In Us Weekly\u2019s exclusive first look at the show, Speedman\u2019s RJ calls himself \u201cthe sunshine state\u2019s most lovable PI.\u201d The description seems misleading, though, since RJ is then seen getting punched in the face by an exotic [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Although R.J. and Emi were able to put Victor behind bars on another charge during the finale, they knew it wouldn\u2019t last. Still, they celebrated their small victory as Victor was released from jail and went home only to be killed by an unknown assailant.<\/p>\n

Ortiz teased that even though Emi has feelings for R.J., the death of her father will complicate their possible future.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe he had something to do with it, I don\u2019t know,\u201d Ortiz told TV Insider<\/em> half-joking.<\/p>\n

Speedman, 50, for his part, told the outlet<\/a> last month that it is a \u201cscary\u201d reality that R.J. will potentially be \u201cat the top of the suspect list\u201d since he was determined to expose Victor\u2019s wrongdoings before his death.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of rolling into a season 2 here, I think anybody\u2019s game: certain political opponents could be, his daughter could be, he could be, wish could be, Mel could be. So it\u2019s wide open,\u201d the actor said<\/a> in April. \u201cI think that\u2019s what makes it such an interesting murder for the cliffhanger of our show, is it really does open up a lot of stories and kind of takes the show in, not a different direction, but in a really exciting direction.\u201d<\/p>\n
