Mellon Auditorium on January 28, 2026 in Washington, DC. <span class=\"image-caption-credit\"> (Photo by Win McNamee\/Getty Images)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Not surprisingly, lots of people jumped to the conclusion that Nicki was hoping to curry favor with the Trump administration.<\/p>\n<p>After all, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2025\/05\/todd-chrisley-and-wife-pardoned-by-president-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trump has a history of offering presidential pardons<\/a> to his rich and famous supporters.<\/p>\n<p>And Nicki has quite a few people in her life who could use pardons.<\/p>\n<p>Her husband, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2021\/09\/kenneth-petty-nicki-minajs-husband-to-face-rape-accuser-in-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kenneth Petty, is a convicted rapist<\/a> who is forced to register as a sex offender. In 2022, he was sentenced to a year of house arrest for failing to do so.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-9-16 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Nicki Minaj Appears With Trump, Pledges Her Support\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XDBLgxZSLQg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Then there\u2019s Nicki\u2019s brother, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2020\/01\/nicki-minaj-brother-sentenced-to-life-in-prison-for-child-rape\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jelani Maraj, who is serving a life sentence<\/a> after being convicted of raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter.<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, Nicki\u2019s inner circle could benefit from a few pardons.<\/p>\n<p>The situation came to a head earlier this week when famed songwriter Linda Petty tweeted that Minaj must \u201cwant something from The Office\u201d (via <a href=\"https:\/\/radaronline.com\/p\/donald-trump-maga-celebrity-fixer-nicki-minaj-backlash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Radar Online<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The tweet prompted Trump media and campaign strategist Alex Bruesewitz to lash out on X (formerly Twitter).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a disgusting and disgraceful smear that every Democrat and Trump critic is spreading about Nicki Minaj,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/alexbruesewitz\/status\/2056374657993900416\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bruesewitz ranted on\u00a0<em>X<\/em><\/a>\u00a0after Perry\u2019s comments gained traction online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNicki has never once asked the President for anything. She has only offered assistance and support,\u201d he continued:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe insinuation that she\u2019s looking for anything in return is total garbage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nicki is not an American citizen and therefore cannot vote in US elections, but she\u2019s aligned herself with Republican causes in recent months.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2026\/01\/nicki-minaj-trump-gold-card\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Minaj has boasted about receiving a Trump \u201cgold card\u201d<\/a> and inching closer to citizenship, but it doesn\u2019t seem that that\u2019s happened for her yet.<\/p>\n<p>These days, lots of folks are watching the situation closely and wondering if Nicki will receive any favors from the White House.
