Jeff Probst<\/strong><\/a> received backlash for spoiling a key part<\/a> of the season 50 finale of Survivor<\/em><\/a> \u2014 and now contestant Rizo Velovic<\/strong> is speaking out.<\/p>\n

\u201cSurvivor history!\u201d Velovic, 26, joked during an interview with Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a> on Wednesday, May 20. \u201cJeff was on a Variety interview recently saying that he wants to edit Survivor with the person going home and then showing how they go home. And he did it the next day, and it was me! I made Survivor history.\u201d<\/p>\n

Velovic wasn\u2019t upset about the on-air<\/a> flub, adding, \u201cNever been voted out of Survivor, two times playing, only one of four people ever that happened to. And also the first finale flub ever in 50 seasons and the RizGod was a part of it. So that\u2019s what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

During Wednesday\u2019s finale, Probst, 64, mistakenly referred to Velovic as \u201cthe final member of our jury\u201d in a live segment before the rest of the fire-making challenge had aired, therefore revealing Velovic had lost.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhile TV shows and movies have teams dedicated to making sure nothing goes wrong on the production side, things slip through the cracks from time to time. That\u2019s where fans come in. Over the years, viewers have pointed out the entertainment industry\u2019s mishaps including the famous Starbucks cup of 2019 that popped up in a [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Probst apologized for the mistake after the show returned from a commercial break.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I love doing live television. In case you\u2019re confused, this is what happened,\u201d he explained. \u201cWe were going to show you fire-making, and then have the loser of fire-making, Rizo, come out and talk about how charming he is and if he had practiced fire-making, maybe he would have won. Instead, we did a Survivor twist. It\u2019s the last twist of the season! It\u2019s called A Peak Into the Future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Velovic, meanwhile, knew instantly that something wasn\u2019t right when he was on stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo my understanding was they were under the assumption fire already happened,\u201d he told EW. \u201cBut I was in the green room saying like, \u2018Wait, I\u2019m waiting for myself to lose here. What are we doing?\u2019 And Jeff\u2019s like, \u2018Bring out RizGod. And they\u2019re like, \u2018You\u2019re up!\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018OK, I\u2019m gonna work with what we got here.\u2019 And obviously doing the best RizGod that I do at Tribal.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Velovic recalled just following Probst\u2019s lead. \u201cI\u2019m playing off Jeff, and Jeff is talking about fire and I was like: Well, I\u2019m not trying to reveal it. So I\u2019m like, \u2018Win or lose, I\u2019m proud of how I played,’\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd Jeff\u2019s like, \u2018Sit your ass on the bench.\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018Well, this is awkward.’\u201d<\/p>\n
